Just got back from a stay at Wequassett. We were attending a family wedding. I must agree with the other reviews that the grounds, rooms, and service were amazing! The location was also fabulous. We were visiting from California and although there was plenty to do at the resort, we also wanted to explore the Cape a little. We made short day trips to downtown Chatham, Cape Cod National Seashore, and Provincetown.
The part of the other reviews that I didn’t agree with, was that the Wequassett was not recommended for families with young children. It looked like most of the people who said this didn’t even have children. We have 2 kids ages 6 and 8 and although they are generally well behaved we were a little nervous at first about staying at such a nice place. Our fears quickly vanished. The Wequassett treated our kids like royalty! There are too many examples to list, but here are a few…
1. We ate breakfast at 28 Atlantic. During the breakfast my daughter got hurt pretty badly and several members of the wait staff went out of their way to make her feel better.
2. The rehearsal dinner was a clambake. One of the wait staff members spent 15 minutes teaching our 6-year-old son how to crack open his lobster. He helped my son but instead of doing it all for him, he took the time to teach my son how to do it. Later in the dinner my son was teaching others how to do it and he was very proud!
3. My sister in law uses her jogging stroller to run with her baby every morning on the beach. One morning her stroller wheel broke. She went to the front desk to ask if there was a hardware store nearby. The front desk staff took her stroller and gave it back to her repaired the next day!
The kids also had lots of fun. They love the pool. It was big, warm, and had a large shallow portion. They loved playing at the beach. The resort had a free boat shuttle to take guests to a “nicer” beach, but we couldn’t get our kids to leave the beach on the property. The caught tiny minnows, found a huge horseshoe crab, and had fun finding lots of other little critters. We ate several meals at the Outer Bar & Grille and at 28 Atlantic. Both places had several choices of kid’s meals that were both tasty and reasonably priced.
As most parents would agree, when the kids are happy, the parents are happy and at the Wequassett our kids were very happy. They did not want to leave!
