“Aboslutely top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2007

Accommodated fourteen rooms for our family event. From the time of our initial contact to the last checkout, the owners and staff were incredibly professional and responsive. All guests had nothing but positive praise regarding the service and accommodations commenting they would all stay again (some already have returned). The owners continue to work hard on making this one of the best values on the cape.

The room we had was very clean and roomy. A small table and chairs would have been nice because my husband had a hard time getting out of the low chairs because of a bad knee. We stayed in room 104. I think this motel is fairly priced for Chatam.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and large room
  • Disliked — The chairs

We were visiting friends in Chatham, so the Highlander was the perfect location. It is breathtakingly expensive for a simple motel. I'd rate it higher except for the cost. Unfortunately I understand that we paid for location. We had a Queen room that was newly renovated. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds that I've ever slept in. The furniture, carpets, refrigerator, TV, etc. were all brand new. In fact, they still needed to do a little finish work on the room, the bathroom door and all the trim still needed to be painted. The room was quite large, could have fit 2 doubles or a king sized bed in there. The bathroom was quite small, but brand new and the linens were new and clean. We didn't get a chance to check out the pool. The motel is located right on Rt. 28 just a bit west of Chatham center. It is also convenient to the bike path, only about 1/4 mile away. We'd stay there again if we were visiting Chatham.

we were quite pleased and had a very nice experience staying at the chatham highlander motel. i called them directly in the morning and was able to book two adjacent rooms for the same night. i was told that one of the rooms had just finished having the bathroom remodeled. on arrival we found that the rooms were spotless. the carpets seemed quite new and were very clean. there was also some new furniture in each room. one of the bathrooms had not been remodeled yet, but all was still extremely clean. it was very apparent that the new owners have been hard at work in making improvements. the grounds and pools were also very neat and tidy. as someone with asthma, i greatly appreciate the fact that all the rooms are strictly smoke free, since smoke residue can affect my comfort level and that of my children. the beds also were very comfortable. and finally, the woman at the front desk could not have been nicer. she was very pleasant and helpful. i wish these new owners luck as they continue to make improvements and updates.

Considering that this hotel is not part of a large chain, it was a very nice stay, at a reasonable price, in a good location. The room was very clean, the plumbing fixtures were in excellent condition, and the setting was far enough back from the road that there was no traffic noise. The clerk was extremely polite at check-in and offered tips about local restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. The location is at the edge of town, so it is not reasonable for most people to walk to the restaurants and shops in town, but it is possible to find parking in the downtown area.
I would definitely stay at the Chatham Highlander if I visited that area again.

Visited Chatham for the first time over Memorial Day weeekend. We were a bit shocked by the high prices for lodging but managed to find the Chatham Highlander at a rate of $125/night. Our room had comfortable queen beds and the carpet seemed new. The furniture and bath were vintage but very clean.

Really overpriced. We stayed there at the end of September and they required a two night stay. Green vinyl chairs. Nothing's been updated in years. Their "pool" is a tiny little hole in the ground.

We used to be YUK but we've updated the entire place. We purchased the Chatham Highlander the end of 2003 and recognized it as a diamond in the rough. In 2005 we began updating the rooms. We finished them this year. 25% have been completely renovated. The others have new carpeting and furnishings. Our rooms and baths are spotless. As to the swimming pools, we have 2 heated ones. One is 18 x 36 and the other one is 20 x 40. Visit our website to see pictures of the rooms.
