We stay in Chatham several times a year during off-season, and have our regular places we really look forward to eating at. This time we decided to try Del Mar at the suggestion of a friend. It was so good we went back the next night too - forgoing our usual favorite restaurant, which was not an easy decision.
We found their daily specials very interesting. I started with a Tennessee Mule, which was light and refreshing, served in a cold metal mug. Great drink. I had a char appetizer one night, and the calimari the next. Both were fresh, nicely presented. I had the swordfish special the first night, which was a good sized piece, nicely cooked with a few spices on top, with spinach and potatoes. The next night I had their filet special which was perfectly done.
Service was top notch. Our water glasses were always full, and if our drinks were near empty our server was there asking if we needed a refill.
This is a somewhat small place (before they open the outdoor seating when the weather gets warmer), with a nice friendly feel. It was a wonderful find, and now vying for the top spot on our list of favorite Cape restaurants.
