“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for our anniversary. We have stayed in many, many B&B's, and top hotels, but this one ranks up there with the best. The attention to detail with everything is amazing. They didn't drop the ball once. I have to commend the owners for taking the time to think of little details that their guests would like or want before we even knew we would like them. On arrival Kirsty checked us in and showed us around. She is a lovely young lady from England. Our room was beautiful and cozy with a fireplace, and once again the attention to detail was noticed. They have scrumptious breakfasts every morning but also deliver tea or coffee to your room prior to breakfast. So fantastic! In the library they have sherry and port for your enjoyment and afternoon tea every day, with so many little treats to fill you up. After dinner in the kitchen you can help yourself to coffee, tea or hot chocolate and more cookies and treats. It's never ending. In the rooms are baskets with water, chips, granola bars and juice that is replenished every day. We stayed in the Whirlwind room which didn't have a fridge but there is a guest fridge in the main kitchen for guests to use. They really have thought of everything. There is a beautiful outdoor pool and the grounds and herb garden are beautifully maintained. It's in an ideal location, within walking distance to Main Street but far enough away for peace and quiet. We loved sitting out on the lawn and listening to all the birds singing every day. The beds are very comfortable and our rooms were kept spotless. In the evening we came home to our bed turned down, the curtains drawn and chocolates on our pillows. Would be very easy to stay here forever. Well done job by all involved.

We stayed at the Captain's House at the beginning of May with our friends. It was our first time in Cape Cod and proved to be a very enjoyable experience! We had a charming welcome from Madison, one of the team of English girls working there and she was able to advise us about local dining possibilities. Our room was charming, very clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a jacuzzi bath which was soothing after a long day of sightseeing!
Breakfast was served in the garden room and the choice was good. Jill, the Innkeeper came to talk to us and give advice on excursions etc!
It was pleasant to come back to the Inn after dinner and have a glass of port in the library. In the kitchen there was a cookie jar with different homemade biscuits in case you were still hungry!
The gardens were very pretty with spring flowers and the local village of Chatham is pleasant to walk in. Would we come back if we are in Cape Cod again? Of course!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Northern Lights room which had a jacuzzi bath and a little terrace to sit out on at...

We weren't sure what to expect when we found a notecard in our room saying the owners/innkeepers would be away the entire length of our six-night stay; but our fears were unfounded since we couldn't have asked for better service from the entire staff. The interns from England are gracious, charming, caring, and compassionate. They are also beautiful from the inside out. Hannah and Kirsty were there most days and provided exceptional service in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed the bountiful breakfasts prepared by Chef Kevin or Madison. The afternoon teas became a daily ritual and continue now that we are back in PA.

Our room (Northern Light) was spotless and always replenished, including coffee supplies, snacks, juice and water, toiletries, and even bedside truffles. Everyone did an outstanding job and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. Jill, the owner, made a point to stop by and introduce herself at our last breakfast since she had just returned from her trip. I'm sure she was very tired but she made the effort and that's what counts in our book. Our neighbors/friends own a B&B and we have helped out several times, so we know firsthand what all goes into running a successful business. Captain's House Inn is a success in every way and we give it the highest praise it truly deserves.

Room Tip: We stayed in Northern Light and it was quiet and comfortable with a small private patio. We enjoyed...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Captain's House. Furnishings and overall decoration were charming, the food was beautifully prepared and served, the staff was eager to be of service whenever and whatever was needed. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, and it was evident that a lot of effort went into keeping the Inn welcoming and special, from the candy server which stood in the entry, to the port and sherry available nightly for the guests to serve themselves in the library, to the late night snacks available in the kitchen if you so desired. Many attractive shops line the Main St. and the choice of restaurants is large, but the Inn provides all the information needed to make a proper choice, including driving directions. They have thought of everything.

The Captain's House Inn was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary and "babymoon". The staff was incredible - friendly, polite, helpful, extremely punctual, willing to do anything to make our stay great. Extremely close to downtown Chatham and great restaurants. Breakfast was delicious each day. The extras included in our package were also perfect. Our room - Lady Mariah, was incredible - extremely large with a great tub room and closet storage. The bed, pillows, sheets were extremely comfortable. When we left some clothing behind, the staff even called within a few hours of check out and offered to ship it to our home. We are so glad we picked the Captain's House Inn and would definitely return on future trips to the Cape!

I brought my mother here for a mother's day weekend, enticed by the numerous favorable reviews all round. The inn is located in Chatham, one of the most charming towns on the Cape, which is a plus! I've stayed in lots of New England inns like this one but this has been the best so far! The compound is not huge, but I did not feel like it was too crowded, even though occupancy was full. I loved how it was so professionally run, yet so homely. I stayed in the Intrepid, and loved the pink furnishings and canopy bed, complete with step stool. The room was well kept and cosy, with a daily supply of water, juice, chips and chocolate!

The breakfast and teas were A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Each evening, we'd have a breakfast menu delivered to our room so we could think about what we'd want to order (choice between 2 mains), in addition to the pastries, jams, cheese and meats that were served buffet style. Tea (3 to 5 p.m.) was delightful in their beautiful dining room and my favorite by far were the scones with jam and whipped cream! I brought my pot of tea out to the garden; there are small nooks and crannies to just sit and read a book quietly. The herb garden was just starting up, and it was a little adventure just spotting all the herbs.

There was a simple exercise room and small pool, which I didn't really need cos Chatham is nice to explore in itself... but it's still wonderful that a small place like this is so complete! At night, my mum and I happily watched DVDs from the pretty large library they have there.

I loved the magazines on the Cape left neatly in the room. In the main 'lobby', there is just so much information on what to do in Chatham, direction cards to various attractions (thoughtful and useful!), restaurant contact information... how more complete can you get?

Jill came around in the morning to say hi, make sure we were OK, and printed out helpful directions to the beach, including tide times. Thoughtful!

Over all, it was a wonderful 3 days and I'd go again in a heartbeat. We went before summer so the Cape wasn't teeming with people, which also meant it was cold-ish and there wasn't much to do (we did catch the herring run in Stony Brook less than a 30 min drive away though!), but just hanging around the town, relaxing in the inn was wonderful.

My friends were excited to go after hearing my experience, but apparently children under 12 are not allowed, so that disqualifies many of them. It's understandable, cos it maintains the peace and over all tone of the place. Perfect for couples, small groups of friends, families with older children... any excuse to have a wonderful time!

Thanks, Jill and the lovely staff!

The Captain's House Inn was the perfect getaway for a weekend away. The rooms were newly renovated, clean and quaint. The staff and service was incredible. When we decided to stay in through breakfast, we got a call at 10:01 asking if we would like a breakfast tray brought up. Additionally, the location is perfect for a leisurely walk in to the cute city of Chatham and is also very convenient for driving to beach and dinner spots in nearby Harwich. The inn keepers provided excellent restaurant choices as well, making our first stay in Chatham absolutely perfect. We will definitely be staying at the Captain's Inn again!
