We had a amazing stay here, everything down to the last detail was taken care of and the staff were so friendly and welcoming, they helped us arrange some dinner reservations and were always so professional, nothing was too much trouble, the owners work really hard and this shows in the excellent customer service and high standards throughout the whole of the inn. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious with so much choice and not your usual run of the mill sausage and bacon items either, they really go to town here and offer you something different and out of the ordinary, the afternoon tea was a dream and as for the sherry, port and cookies in the evening, you could not fault this place! We stayed in the wild hunter room which was very impressive with a large bed, private terrace and fabulous whirlpool tub. We loved the pool area as well. The rooms were immaculate and well maintained. Chatham was easily walked in 15/20 minutes. This place really was one of our favourite stop overs in New England, we will definitely stay here when we return to Chatham.

From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay here was perfect!
The room we booked was excellent - huge bed, fabulous wet room. The service was second to none - breakfast was amazing, cookies & hot chocolate in the evening was excellent. Free internet access was good. Parking not a problem. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners or the girls working at the inn (all students from the UK).

This is truly one of those places where you get what you pay for. It's not inexpensive, but definitely worth it. Great inn run by a nice young couple, using English interns for the day-to-day things. Service was over and beyond. Breakfasts were wonderful, in a great setting. Though not really withing easy walking distance of the town, everything is close by. They made some great restaurant recommendations.

“Comfortable & convenient”

Captain's House Inn

We stayed in the Lydia Harding Suite for four nights. It was extremely comfortable & very quiet except for the last evening when one of the guest below decided to use the whirlpool bath for half an hour & then have a battle with the other guest below as to who could have the television the loudest. I never understand why these places fit whirlpool baths they are just noisy & intrusive to other guests & we never use them for that reason. Maybe they are a novelty to some people. There is a large hotel in Kennebunkport that has no TVs in the rooms - that must be absolute heaven. I have to agree with a previous reviewer about the owners. They never introduced themselves to us and for some time we just thought that they were staff. However, all the staff - that includes the cleaners & groundsmen were all very efficient & friendly & my waistline is still feeling the effects of the breakfasts.
All in all excellent service & comfort that in some respects would shame some so called luxury hotels.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Captain's House Inn (10/19 - 10/21). We absolutely loved everything about our stay. We stayed in the Lydia Harding Suite. What a huge, wonderful room. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast every morning was simply out of this world. Each morning we were more than happy with our choices and selections. The staff were all very pleasant. They knew who we were without evening having to tell them. We saw and spoke with Jill each morning during breakfast. She was incredibly pleasant and helpful in planning out activities.

If I were to be extremely picky, the only thing that wasn't superb was the smell of our room. It smelt a little musty and closed up. However, this is to be expected with a property this old.

All in all, we would definitely do it again. And, we have already recommended it to our friends!

Thanks Jill and James for a GREAT stay!!
