I live locally and have visited the Refuge hundreds of times. But you can really learn to appreciate the wildlife when you take a little tour inside (free) and learn about nature. Be sure to take a seal tour on the Rip Ryder AWESOME bring the whole family

Beautiful location and great wildlife viewing. They could use more signs designating which areas are private and which are public

“Horseshoe crabs, osprey, serenity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

A wonderful place to experience unspoiled nature. We spotted a pair of horseshoe crabs mating in the shallows by the shore, an osprey on its nest, and various other sea birds, shells, and interesting rocks during a late afternoon walk on the beach. The ranger in the visitor's center was very informative, as we're the exhibits. A rare opportunity to see some of these amazing pre-historic creatures in their natural habitat in an area that is trying to preserve them from being used for bait.

“Serene beach for walking and photography”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

My mom volunteers at the refuge, and I think it's a really wonderful treasure of Cape Cod. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking at any time of year. However, there isn't much parking, and it isn't really a beach for hanging out and relaxing with the family. There are also often horseflies, which are a huge pain. At high tide, there isn't much of beach at all, but the water is pretty shallow and usually warm. Just beware of the horseshoe crabs nestled in the sand.
