The Captain David Kelley House is close to the beach and the house itself is very attractive, these are the pluses.
The negatives...the bed was not made after our first night and if you want a fresh towel you need to place your wet towels in a basket downstairs and help yourself to a fresh towel from a pile of towels also downstairs.
The owner was useless and absent for much of our 2 night stay. We usually stay at B&Bs because of the owners and their stories and also the great breakfasts. This place had neither. When looking for the owner, there was a permanent note on the door instructing guests to call him on his cell phone. So when we got up in the morning and blew a fuse in the room - we had to call his cell.
Also, during breakfast he was no where to be found. A cold breakfast of cereal, juice, store bought muffins and coffee was set out for guest to help themselves. When finished no one was around to clear the table while guests talked.
And finally, one more example of the owners lack of service. I had made a wedding cake for my son's reception. I called ahead and asked if the inn would have the refrigeration space for me to store the cake until the following morning. I explained that the layers were 6, 9 and 12 inches and 2 inches high. I was told no problem. When we arrived I was directed to a refrigerator that was jammed packed and told that I could rearrange things if I needed. When I looked at him in disbelief I was told I could use another refrigerator, this one was filled with wine and was your typical mini college dorm frig. Again - no way would the cakes fit. Luckily a friend in the area found an empty frig for us to use. No thanks to the owner of the Captain David Kelley House.
