“Friendly Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The waiter was very friendly and gave us a great table for our 2 year old grandson. The food was delicious and we had to take half of it home because the portions are so generous! Plan for time to look around the restaurant.

“Fun atmosphere for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

This was our first stop on our very first family weekend getaway. It was a little difficult to find (we didn't know it was in the mall) as our GPS kept sending us down some random side street *before* the turn to the mall. Once we found it, however, it didn't disappoint in terms of the fun, exciting atmosphere we were hoping to share with our young sons. They were fascinated looking around at all the fish tanks and animatronics. They loved the thunderstorms! It is very pricey, to be sure, and don't expect fancy food selections. My husband and I both had the BBQ burger which was HUGE and incredibly tasty with onion rings and bacon packed in there. We got there at 11:30 a.m. on a Friday, so we were seated right away, but by the time we left around 12:30, there was a line out the door. Don't go there if you're in a rush! Besides the fact that you're really supposed to just relax and enjoy the environment in a place like this, the service is a bit slow. We hardly ever were able to find our server. We'd ask for something and would wait many, many minutes before he'd be back. I get it - it's a laid back atmosphere - but we would have liked a little bit of a faster pace, honestly. We decided to splurge on the fancy kid-cups - be prepared .... Just about every kid in the place gets one, so it's hard to say 'no' to your own kids, and they're $8 each. But, my boys have had every glass of water out of them for the past 5 days now, so they're getting their due use.

Overall impression .... Go for the enjoyment factor - for your young kids and for the young at heart. Plan to spend way too much for way too little. Have patience. And just enjoy it for the fun, novelty restaurant that it is.

“Fun for kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

The Rainforest Cafe is a really fun experience for kids. The atmosphere is filled with jungle themes, animated animals, and fish tanks teeming with colorful fish. The food selection is fairly good. The food is reasonably good. The service from front desk to hostess to wait staff at this particular establishment was mediocre.

“Never Again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Brought our daughter & grandkids. Waited an hour only to be brought into a half empty dining room. Thought the prices were too high for quality of food. The worst thing was that one in our party didn't get his entree until the rest of our party was finished. This was after several false claims that the meal would be out any minute. Honesty would have been appreciated more than a complimentary entree.

“Smaller than Expected, But an Overall Enjoyable Experience.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Because we enjoy T-Rex at Downtown Disney, we decided to surprise our kids with a similar experience closer to home. We've never been to Rainforest before, and to read the reviews here, I think people ought to get some idea of the type of place they are dining at before going and then giving a lousy review because it isn't a "fine dining establishment". I felt the audio-animatronic animals and fake trees hanging all over gave that impression at the door. We called ahead for a reservation and were seated immediately upon our 3:30 arrival. Our server was cheerful and attentive, getting us drinks right away, and checking back with us as we chatted rather than choose and appetizer or meals promptly. I felt that the dining area-- apparently just one large room with alcoves-- seemed surprisingly empty since the hostess was telling people it was a 90 minute wait! However, not long before we left, we saw them setting up 2 long tables of well over 24 total seats for a birthday party, so that explained why they were not being filled. e found the food to be decent. We got Chimi-Cha-Cha's for an appetizer. They were surprisingly good and spicy. I would have been happy with these anywhere. The Philly Cheese Steak was good, but oddly has lots of lettuce and tomato. Not so Philly, but good. The Tuscan Chicken was very flavorful, and the accompanying vegetables cooked just right. I got a special on the new menu, pasta and shrimp dish. It was nicely seasoned, but the shrimp had been cooked without seasoning, so eating one by itself was a bit blah. Overall, we really enjoyed the service, the food was all good, not great, but just fine. But we didn't come just for the food. It could have been a tad cleaner on the floors, and the removal of a dying fish mid-dinner was well orchestrated since the waitress pointed out, the other fish will swoop in and eat it, devastating children. In light of that, the handled it very smoothly, taking him out in a bucket to "get some help." The thunderstorms every 30 minutes were fun to hear/see. Our kids are older now, so watching other small children was fun. However, some parents need to watch their own children as the run right in front of waitstaff with trays. Really the only disappointing part.

Though not as dramatic as T-Rex, or even likely the Disney Rainforest Cafe, we had a nice time. And the accompanying mall was pretty nice too.
