“Wonderful Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2007

My husband and I stayed at Brewster By The Sea during July and had a wonderful stay. Our only regret was that we could not stay long enough to enjoy the ammenities, including the lovely pool and hot tub. There was a beautiful beach a short walking distance away. We were too busy going to various activities for a relatives wedding that weekend. The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Byron and Donna have gone out of their way to make sure that each guest has what they need. In fact one of my thoughts while staying there was that they left no stone unturned! As for the prior comments regarding too many eggs at breakfast, we had delicious pecan waffles, bacon and poached pears w/ cherries one morning with no eggs in sight. My husband and I will stay there again without hesitation.

Brewster by the Sea is wonderful-- by far the best place to stay on the Cape. The rooms are lovely. The hospitality is tops. Great for a weekend get away, or a full week. You couldn't ask for a lovelier b&b experience.

We stayed at the Brewster by the Sea guesthouse for 3 nights in July 2007.

The guest-house styles itself as a European B&B - however being a European I would say it's very much American, with a few attempts to be European thrown in (some of which don't always work...see later).

The most important thing is that our room was extremely comfortable, very peaceful and very clean. We always had a really good night's sleep!

Several reviewers have mentioned the great breakfasts..some may agree, personally I didn't. I would have preferred a little more choice and some basic items like cereals, and bread/muffins/toast to be included. Instead it was yet more eggs in lots of different varieties. (If you don't like eggs, it's not good!). And as for the ridiculous contraption to supposedly keep your teapot warm...well no self respecting European would be seen dead with one of those! Ridiculously over the top.

Nonetheless, we did enjoy our stay at 'BBTS' very much.

Byron and Donna define hospitality! I traveled to Cape Cod on business and was looking for a "homey" type bed and breakfast, but also wanted the amenities of a fine hotel. I found all of that and more at Brewster by the Sea (BBTS). My room, in the seperate building was terrific, a sizable space, king bed with the linens of a 5 star hotel, bathroom with jacuzzi tub/shower, comfortable sitting area, fireplace, and more. Due to flight troubles, I arrived very late, and Byron not only talked me through my unplanned drive to the Cape from Boston, he stayed awake to welcome this weary traveler. My bed had been turned down, with fabulous chocolate truffles waiting and the soothing sounds of classical music playing. I knew immediately it couldn't be more perfect. Until...I went to breakfast the next moring. I met Byron's delightful wife, Donna, and began my week of 3-course, gourmet breakfasts! A sampling of the breakfast includes, the Brewster Sunrise (freshly squeezed orange juice topped with local cranberry juice), homemade raspberry sorbet topped with the perfect raspberries grown in the gorgeous garden out back, the main course of egg/cheese bake with fresh fruit and "to-die-for" homemade apricot scones. The main house and carriage house are lovely and very well maintained. The pool is peaceful and surrounded by the bursting blue hydrangias. The backyard resembled an English garden complete with beautiful flowers, shrubs and berries. I took advantage of the pool-side massage (had the Deluxe) and it was as good or better as I have received at top-rated spas. While the facilites, food and location totally exceeded my expectations, the hospitality and attention to every last detail by Byron and Donna made this a place that I would recommend to all, and hopefully will return to very soon. Look at their top list of things to do in the folder in your room and follow these suggestions. Every restaurant they suggested was great, the early morning walk by the Museum of Natural History, right accross the street, down to the sea was spectacular, and the bike trails around the Cape are terrific. Byron and Donna are kind and generous souls and their hospitality is sincere and top-notch!!

The accomodation was way beyond our expectations, the Garden Room was a delight. Breakfasts were superb. Our hosts Donna and Byron went out of their way to make our stay an incredibly relaxing experience, no request was too much trouble for them. I hope that one day we will find our way back to stay in this delightful, romantic and special Inn.

Thank you again, Donna and Byron

Byron and Donna clearly love what they do and they do it right. They are warm, friendly people and certainly know how to pamper their guests - they never missed a beat. Byron even booked a massage for us day of. The breakfast was healthy and delicious and the room was spotless. Details and indulgences such as jacuzzi tub/robes, truffles and sherry at turn down, heated faceclothes for after breakfast, and complimentary water, coffee/tea, cookies and chocoates, and beach towels just to name a few. Grounds were beautiful and relaxing. Only downside - rte 6a can be noisy during the day, noise travels in Orchad house and fireplaces were off for the summer :( Otherwise, had a wonderful time.

  • Liked — Pampering, cleanliness, grounds, staff
  • Disliked — Noise of neighbors upstairs in Orchad house

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brewster By The Sea. Donna and Byron Cain are gracious hosts and clearly love what they do. Breakfasts were a big treat, and in fact, we will be returning this winter for a weekend featuring a cooking class. The rooms were well-appointed and very comfortable and clean. We found especially helpful their listing of local restaurants. A baby grand piano for Linda to play added to our enjoyment.
