“Great way to spend a few hours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

We cycled through to Chatham for lunch which was fun. Service at the store was great and the rail trail is almost flat which makes it great for old buggers like me (although I moaned a lot on the way back!)

“#1 rail trail in eastern USA”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

This is a wonderful and safe trail for ALL ages. Many visual sights along the way. Many stops on and off the trail for the "foodies" in your group. Several places to take a swim. Many local bike shops for rentals and repairs. My favorite, Idle Times in Orleans.

“Good, smooth experience with bike rentals.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2011

I wanted to review this bike rental just because both workers were so helpful and I don't think I have every rented seven bikes before and had it go so smoothly. The gave us tips and what to look for on the trail and where to go. And also bringing the bikes back after they closed and not having to rush back was great.

“Poor Customer Service and Broken Bikes!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2009

We were only in Cape Cod for one night and we choose this bike rental shop because of it's later hours than other nearby options. We arrived at 4 pm and paid $25 each to have the bikes until closing. About 20 minutes into our ride the chain fell off my bike. We tried to fix it but the chain had literally snapped in half. We called the location and a bike mechanic came out to fix it. He took about 25 minutes to find us and another 15 to fix the bike. He commented that he had just fixed that bike this morning so apparently their bikes break quite a bit. By the time we were up and running it was time to head back to return the bikes.

We initially were not offered any compensation for this issue. We requested a refund for the broken bike and were offered a "rain check" entitling us to a free rental at a later date. Being in town for one night the rain check was essentially useless. We were told they have a no refunds policy. The mechanic clearly felt bad for us but told us the owner never gives out refunds and justified the broken bike by him "coming to rescue us". With a customer base that is likely 99% tourists it's probably easy for this company to get by with terrible policies and defective bikes.

There are a ton of bike rental shops in the area. Don't make the same mistake we did. Do not rent from the Rail Trail Bike Shop.
