Booked four nights here and stayed in the East wing of the mansion. Room is clean but as other reviewers have said it just isn't a great place to stay with small children. Pools are expectedly crowded as is the beach. Problem with the beach is its on a stretch with a ton of rocks so it's not really possible to go swimming without shoes. Other problem is there are stairs everywhere and no pavements so we are spending a lot of time walking on the road. Food at the main restaurants and service is fine. Front desk clerk didn't acknowledge me for 5 minutes while she attended to a question from the restaurant manager. She wasn't friendly at all. Neither was I by the time I left the front desk. After a 6 hour drive all I wanted was a smile and a hello not an excuse to be annoyed. No help with out bags was offered, with a 20 stairs a 3 year old and an 18 month old it was a fun time getting into the room. Had to call for a pack n play twice. What is it with asking for cribs in hotels? It always seems to take an eternity. Anyway its an expensive hotel an average experience.

I booked my stay thru priceline.com. I recieved a room on the villge side, which has no access to the private beach,unknown to me at the time I booked my stay because according to priceline's description, there was beach access. False description on pricelines side. But thats another story. I called the resort to request beach access. I was told I could not because priceline customers stay on the other side due to the inexpensive rate we recieve.At this point I was fuming. It was suggested I contact priceline.I did and the rep couldnt care less about my situation even after I pointed out that it is advertised that there was a private beach, an amemnity that was priority to me. I expected a miserable stay from that point. Once we got to the hotel, I kindly asked the representative at the front desk if we could have a room on the bayside with beach access rather than the Village side with NO each access. To my surprise, she gave us a lovely room on the side I requested.
The resort is beautiful, situated on impecable grounds.Beautiful plants all around. There is a very large upscale outdoor deck with a bar in the center, comfortable seating and an outdoor restaraunt. The outdoor pool was very nice with an outdoor spa, all clean and tidy with lounging chairs, tables and chairs.
Our room featured a king size bed, with a balcony. Bath products wer Crabtree and Evelyn. The bed was very comfy.Very friendly and pleasant maid service.
We went to the Pub on the premises for a light dinner.It was a very cozy atmosphere (but the pizza tasted like cardboard)
The beach was a short stroll on the boardwalk.Unfortunately It was rather windy during our stay, so we really didnt get to use the beach much. There was a concession stand that sold snacks, beverages, wine and beer.
The staff was friendly from the moment we arrived until departure.
The only thing I was not happy was that there is a 20.00 per day resort rate that is not posted on thier Priceline website. I was aware of this fee from reading other reviews, but I thought that it would have been included in the price we paid priceline.

Stayed with two young children 3 & 6. Although one kiddie pool, it was extremely crowded and the 3 Ft section in all larger pools is very narrow so again, very packed with young children during busy summer months. Loved the bike path and easy access from the resort however plan to reserve carriers and bike extensions for little ones EARLY. Also I asked for a bike map to know which way to bike and where I'd be going and they did not have anything to provide me so I felt like I was riding blindly which was uncomfortable for a first time at the path. Rooms at the Britterige were very clean and was pleased to have a washer/dryer with little ones however, there were NO DVD players to our surprise. I cannot recall the last time I encountered no DVD's. With kids this is a must to keep their routines of what they watch for down time at night. If I knew this I would have brought one. The playground was a significant disapointment. Old/ run down and when I walked along a strange path near it, I found another old and very creepy playscape which should be taken down or have the path cleaned up and opened up for safety.. Did not feel safe walking in the area as it was so sheltered I was glad my husband was near. For a luxury resort I'd expect more. The tiny tiny investment in a well designed and safe playscape area for small children is worth it to a resort that boasts "family" entertainment. Bottom line: Older children can golf, bike and pool with enjoyment but if you have kids under 10 I'd look elsewhere.

Lots to do with a great beach, many pools and tennis courts and right on great bike path . Beautiful golf course too. Location is terrific and close to many beach and restaurant options. Luxury accomodations, wonderful location.
