“Fantastic resort; wish I could stay longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Overall, Ocean's Edge was an excellent choice for a Labor Day weekend getaway for my family of four. With two young boys, the multiple pool options on the resort were key in keeping them entertained. Of course the close proximity to the cape's beaches also gave us additional choices for fun. The Villa rooms were simple but very clean and comfortable. And the mansion's Bayzo's Pub and Grill turned out to be a great restaurant for my wife and kids. The service was super friendly and professional. We just dreamed of coming back to have a beautiful dinner at dusk on the Ocean Terrace - without the kids! I thought overall, it was valued right except for the daily resort fee which was annoying.

Rented a 2 bedroom condo on the mansion side of the property this past Labor day weekend, which entitles you to access to the private beach. The condo was very roomy and clean, with a well equipped kitchenette. They specialize and cater to Weddings, and our condo was directly across the outdoor tent used for receptions, so expect to hear deafening music till 10pm at night! Private beach access is very nice, they supply beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas. The outdoor patio bar and dining is very nice, but can get overcrowded due to large wedding overflows. Definitely a very nice upscale cape getaway, with little reason to go off the resort once you're there.

Room Tip: Condo rooms across from the function tent will be very noisy during wedding and corporate events!

My family and I just returned from a week at Ocean Edge. We had a ball! The unit we stayed in at Arbor Village was immaculate. The grounds were meticulously maintained and the staff very accommodating. The kids activities were tons of fun and well spaced. We all loved the easy and safe access to the bike path. The choice of food and restaurants was excellent, you could grab a burger at the pool or pub, or go a bit fancier on the Terrace. Can't wait for next year!

Unless you read carefully you'll arrive to discover that the resort's private sand beach is off limits to guests unless they are staying in the Deluxe Mansion Guestrooms.

We stayed in a villa which was quite a drive from the ocean, or anything else. The offer a shuttle bus that supposedly take you to a spot where you can walk to a public beach, but every time we passed the shuttle stop the people standing there were complaining about how long a wait it was for the shuttle.

Our room was a great disappointment... the couch was stained, surfaces were dirty, a table leg was broken. The room was missing its coffeemaker and when we requested one we were brought a coffeemaker with broken buttons. The kitchenette had a two burner stovetop but neither burner was attached. An easy fix, but hardly what you'd expect from a 4 star accommodation.

Over our stay we experienced common hallways full or dirt and debris, a vacuum cleaner left in the hall all day long, a hand towel left on the floor next to the toilet and facecloth stuck in the threshold of our door.

There were other minor things such as never getting a return call after leaving a message to about making an activity reservation and the concierge being confused about whether an activity department even had a phone number.

We went to stay here because our friends could not make the trip. They could not get a cancellation/refund three days before the trip, and they would charge $75 if they re-book a room within 10 days. So if after reading this you are still interested in booking it, my hats to you.
A. They charge more than $20 of a resort fee, and that does not include the internet.
B. The check-in time is 4 pm, and check out time is 10. If you stay for one night, you don't even have time to use any of the recreation facilities (like swimming pool), unless you travel to the Cape to swim in a swimming pool and not going out for any sightseeing or walking.
C. Ahh, the village. We were given a room at the lower level of the two-level townhouse style buildings. That's a courteous way to say "basement". When we entered the room, I stepped on the carpet, and I thought that they just shampooed it earlier. But no, it was simple the humidity making the carpet damp. I had to immediately turn on the ACs hoping to dehumidy the whole place. Not much use for a couple of hours.
D. The carpet looked so tired and spots everywhere.

I simply cannot find any good reason to stay there. Of course, unless you just want to golf at the particular course for several days in a row, without spending time outside of their properties - that is, the Cape. There are too many choices elsewhere to stay here.

I would give an Average rating, but because the higher asking price (and hence the expectation), I need to put down a Poor rating.

Room Tip: Honestly, if you are so stubborn that you have to stay here, at least get an upper level room to avo...

We rented a condo on the property for our family of 6 and a sitter. The space was comfortable, had a full kitchen and laundry facilities, a must for our group. The beach was nice as bay side beaches go. On site restaurants were very good. Golf course was excellent. There was everything you need on site, but it was also a good home base from which to explore.

Beautiful location but staff was ridiculously rude! Staying for weekend and we arrived early, just looked for place to store bikes, treated as if such a hassle. When asked about beach was told we didn't have access to the beach where we stayed, are you kidding me at $400 a night no access to the beach?
