“Best Mexican Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

If you want authentic Mexican flavor this is the place to go. The food, the service, the sangria and the Margueritas are the best.

“The real deal - no Americanized Tex-Mex here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

We arrive at 430p, early enough to beat the crowds that flock to this popular authentic Mexican eatery on most nights. If you go on the weekend, make sure to stay until 6 - or brave the crowds and enjoy the wait for your table listening to the talented singer (s) that sing traditional Mexical folk songs. Sometimes, some of the waiters even join in!
The food is heavenly, authentic and filling. Start with the Quesa Asado, and a half carafe of their signature made-there Sangria (or full one if there are more than 2 of you). This is authentic sangria - you will be hooked!! Don't stick to tacos and fajitas for the entre - there are plenty of other dishes offered that showcase the eclectic dishes that Mexicans really eat! My favorite is a stuffed fish dish with a light jalapeño cheese sauce. Tastes like lobster - simply divine! Several of their dishes are rave-worthy. Go and see for yourself!
Reasonable prices, friendly service, consistently yummy food, and the best Sangria ever!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

After a disappointing meal a month before at a Mexican restaurant in Inman Square, Cambridge (see previous review, I decided to take my friend from Australia to El Sarape which was a local favorite for us. Big mistake. The meal was really mediocre and a great disappointment. We will think twice before visiting this restaurant again.

“Food was average, Service was very good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

Based on the reviews, I went and order the Pollo Monterrey (bacon-wrapped stuffed chicken). I was disappointed in the sauce, since it was flavorless. I tried the sauce on the chicken and on chips with no distinct flavor change to the food. The beans were too stiff. Rice was excellent as was the pollo dinner.

The presentation of the plates was exceptional. Wish it tasted that good.

Service was very good, but she kept forgetting to bring me stuff. I had to repeat my order 5 minutes after I gave it to her. She did not write it down and forgot it. Use a pen and paper, if you forget.

“They don't care about customers!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

I called at 2:56 for take-out thinking the change to dinner prices would be 4 PM.
I was told the change over is 2:50 during the week. The person on the phone would not give me the lunch price which is much cheaper. (think 6.95 vs. 17.95 per entree)
I will never go again and I was a regular customer. Guess they have enough customers so they really don't care.
