After a mix-up at another local B&B, Tom and Ali graciously took us in. And our first experience at a B&B couldn't have been better! We loved the way this inn was arranged--guest area separate from the owners' living space. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the breakfast delicious, and the location terrific! Tom was incredibly helpful and friendly. All in all, our experience was fantastic! If we ever return to Cape Cod, this is definitely where we will stay!

We have stayed at the L&L for 5 years, each year for our wedding anniversary. Just like the website says, it is our Happy Place!! This is the most comfortable and welcoming place we have stayed, anywhere. Tom and Ali are always so welcoming and friendly (even when we are caught reading NJ Monthly magazine by the pool) and have given us countless great tips and ideas over the years. Tom's driving tours give us opportunity to explore a new town each time we visit, and Ali's muffins... well some things are so good, words can't describe them. The L&L has easy access to the highway, so we have explored various areas of the Cape and are never more then a 50 minute drive from anywhere. There are always good books and beach gear to borrow, as well as on-site yoga and massage...plus a hot tub, pool, hummingbirds, friendly canines, comfy beds, fireplaces on cool nights, peace, and quiet... what more can you ask for?? Last year, I was 8 months pregnant during our visit and still felt so relaxed and at ease while visiting. We really do feel like this is our home away from home and look forward to visiting each summer.

Room Tip: We love Liar 1 and the InnKeeper's Pride.

Thanks Natalie!! Natalie and Mark are two of our favorites. When Natalie was pregnant we felt her pain, watching Mark in the hot tub from afar. But now she's back--and as a bonus--with family back home to watch the baby so that this lovely couple can keep using the inn as their "Happy PEACEFUL Place". We do bend the rules from time to time and take the little ones, but it's when the pool is closed, and when things are a bit quieter so we can "spread everyone out" in case a small one gets a case of the crankies. Ali and I are very fortunate to have some many guests coming back again and again, and the referral business has been booming like never before, so we must be doing something right. THANK YOU Natalie, for taking the time to write such a lovely review--and we hope to see you again for Christmas Stroll (??). ~ Tom & Ali

My newlywed husband and I stayed at the Lamb and Lion Inn for two nights with our dog Pebbles for our "mini-moon". Tom and Ali were wonderfully gracious hosts, and even Pebbles was greeted warmly by their little furry family members. Tom had so kindly upgraded us to "Sweet 6" which was immaculate, nicely appointed with fridge and stove, and situated poolside. Surrounding the pool were lovely hydrangea and rose bushes and large pots of colorful and vibrant flowers. Hummingbirds entertained us as they flew around and stopped frequently at the feeder placed just outside our door. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, and the entire property, both inside and out, was clean and decorated with charm and whimsy here and there...lamb and lion knick-knacks and such. During our first afternoon, we had the pool and hot tub to ourselves as the other guests must have been out on their excursions. Having never been to the Cape ourselves, we were not sure what to do or where to go. Tom made it easy for us by providing self-guided driving tours with thorough directions and recommended stops that included dog-friendly eateries, isolated beaches, boutique shops, museums, and galleries. We hit most of them along the way to and from Marconi Beach, but not before they allowed us to borrow towels and items from their "Beach Depot" (beach chairs, cooler). After each restful night's sleep, we looked forward to what was being served for breakfast. Ali's "Glorious Muffins" were just that...GLORIOUS, along with her homemade granola, yogurt, and other baked goodies. It was plentiful and satisfying, and although we may have gained a pound or two, we would do it all over again. Our entire stay was relaxing and romantic, even with our dog who enjoyed herself as much as we did. Thank you, Tom and Ali. We will definitely be back for a longer stay...Pebbles can't wait!

Wow! This makes ME want to stay here! What a pretty picture she painted. Yes, Marconi Beach! One of our favorites. The #1 question we get every day is "how close is the Inn to the beach?" The answer is--very close. Firstly the Cape is an island, so we're literally surrounded by beaches! Our guests walk to Scutter's Beach from here (don't look for it on any beach maps--you won't fond it). Scutter's is a rocky beach--great for exploring, checking out the critters in the tide pools, listening to the clicking of the breeze in the nearby bamboo forest, and the world's most AMAZING sunsets.

Other beaches very nearby the Lamb and Lion are Corporation Beach (often filmed for TV shows), Sandy Neck Beach with it's incredible hiking trails, Craigsville Beach--the ultimate place to fly a kite. There's also Mayflower Beach, Grays Beach, Cold Storage Beach--and on and on.
A few of our favorites are a little further away, like Marconi, Head of the Meadow, Coast Guard and Race Point beaches. That's where our se;f-guided driving tours really help. You can find these amazing beaches, as well as check tone of things out along the way.
And the tucked away, hidden beaches? Ha! We're not giving away ALL of our secrets. That's for Lamb and Lion guests only. Have you booked yet?? ;)

We have been staying on the Cape for the past 10 years in the summer, but since we got our dog last year, could not stay at the same hotel. We looked at a number of dog-friendly places, and decided on Lamb and Lion. What a great decision! Tom and Ali asked the name of dog before we arrived so that she would be greeted by name. We stayed in the Lamb's Retreat, our 11-year-old son was thrilled to have a loft bed to himself. Tom and Ali made us feel like family. Breakfast was wonderful with homemade granolas and breads, as well as something freshly baked each morning and fresh fruit. Recommendations of what to do on the Cape with our dog were great and we discovered new places that we could visit or eat with our dog. The fact that they help find dog-sitters (even on short notice) was a big plus. I can recommend Lamb and Lion as one of the best places on the Cape to stay.

Thanks for the great review! The Lamb's Retreat is a 1740's house stable that was converted into a suite larger than most Cape Cod cottages. It has french doors leading into the master bedroom, a spacious living/dining room with a wide screen HDTV, A/C and a second bedroom up in the old hay loft. The kitchen and private bath were completely renovated last winter. It is perfect for a small family or a couple of fun-loving couples. Although we continue to renovate not just this suite, but all the rooms every couple of years, guests always comment on the one thing we refuse to touch--the fun bird wallpaper. It just makes you grin, and at the Lamb and Lion, "grinning is everything"!

We stayed at the lamb and lion for a week while visiting Cape Cod. My wife and I both found it to be luxurious but not too fancy or stuffy, really relaxed, very comfortable, very welcoming and great value.

The location is great, close to the village of Barnstable but still nice and quiet with the sound of the breeze and seabirds aswell as the friendly hummingbirds and the occasional yapping dog! Make sure to say hello to the resident woofers, they are great fun.

The hosts Tom and Ali are what really sets this place apart, their knowledge of the area is excellent, their self guided driving tours brought us to the best of the cape without falling into any tourist traps, their food recommendations were great too and the homemade breads, cakes and granola were delicious for breakfast. They really went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible.

The inn is very laid back, most of the other guests were very friendly but you have the option to keep to yourself or chat over breakfast or by the pool.

Make sure you try the outdoor shower, very refreshing after a swim or a dip in the hot tub.

Overall I'd recommend this place to families, dog lovers, anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and totally chilled out stay on the Cape.

We hope to make it back there at some stage

"Luxurious but not too fancy or stuffy"? We love that. Can we steal that for another tag line? Actually, we just made one up on the last reply as well--At the Lamb and Lion Inn, grinning is everything"! We love our inn--modern but homey, fun & funky, lean, mean and (very) clean! We like to think our guest services are the best on Cape Cod. Innkeepers Tom, Ali and their assistance Donna, Amanda & Eileen all know every corner of Cape Cod, love to dole out those driving tours and enjoy making recommendations from the best ice cream and baked stuff Quahog to the best viewing spot on the whale watch boat! Innkeeper Tom is an award-winning food writer and the Senior Contributing Editor to Edible Cape Cod Magazine, so if you want an "insiders palate" to Cape Cod, the L&L Inn is the place to "belly up" to! Happy Fall!

As a British family having never been to Cape Cod, we weren't sure what to expect, so we were thrilled when we arrived at the Lamb & Lion. We had just spent 10 days visiting NYC and Boston, staying in swanky but soul-less hotels, and the L&L is the perfect antidote. Tom and Ali are the most personable hosts I've ever encountered, they provided fantastic advice and recommendations to us as new-comers, on where to eat, where to shop, the best beaches and even where to get the best views on the whale watching boat (you'll need to ask Tom this directly, he was spot on). To summarise, this is a great Inn, with very high standards of service and cleanliness, and we would go back in a heartbeat!
