“Great Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2008

Looking for a place to stay on a trip back from the Outer Banks, NC, I decided that Hagerstown was a good stop and decided on the red Roof Inn. The rate was good and the motel has been recently renovated. It was very comfortable. The one thing I didn't like was the parking was kind of distant from the room and the outside of the hotel was not that great looking. However, the hotel's rooms were very nice, the staff was nice and the location is right off of I-81. I would recommend this hotel for those on a budget but who want a clean, comfortable room.

This is an ok hotel clean nice staff. We shouldn't park in front of room and they where all outside entries. Not a lot of food in area, McDonald''s and Waffle House. It use to be a Day's Inn, because the sign is stashed behind the hotel. It was ok for a quick night's stay.

We stayed here one night on our way to visit family for the holidays. It was a nice place to stay after a long day of driving. Everything was very clean and the area was quiet. The microwave and refrigerator were a nice addition to the room, even though we were not there long enough to use it. Although the breakfast selection was limited, the doughnuts were fresh and tasty.

My only complaint would be the pillows on the bed were very thin, and not very comfortable. But, overall it was a great place for an overnight stop.

  • Liked — Clean quiet place to stay at the end of a long day
  • Disliked — thin pillows

This motel is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and our king business included a refrigerator and also a microwave. There is coffee in the office 24 hours a day. The donuts in the morning were very fresh and not the usual boxed type.

The price is very reasonable. There is a McDonald's restaurant across the street and a Waffle House restaurant in front of the motel which is open 24 hours a day.

The office supplies the customers with written instructions to good and affordable restaurants and the shopping mall.

The location is very easy to get to because it is right off I 81 and it is centrally located for shopping and sightseeing.

I would certainly stay here again if I am in the area. It is a great place for families because of the open lawn area where kids can play safely.

  • Liked — Everything was great. It would be hard to choose just one thing that I liked best
  • Disliked — Nothing

We had booked this hotel since we were going to be riding on the C & O Canal Towpath. We arrived just after 6 PM, to a warm and friendly staff. They were interested to know about our ride. Also, they were helpful and friendly in sorting out our accomodations. The rooms were clean, bright, and efficient. Check Out was a breeze. The staff made our fist stay at a Red Roof Inn pleasant and enjoyable. We will certainly be returning.

  • Liked — The clean, bright hotel rooms and the friendly staff.
  • Disliked — Nothing!

After reading the reviews posted here, I was a bit skeptical about booking this place. But I only needed it for a stopover, and so I prepared myself for what I thought might have been less than professional staff. That was not necessary, however, because we found the staff here to be helpful, friendly, and quite nice.

Pros:

* Pet friendly.
* Excellent location; near everything.
* Clean, comfortable rooms.
* Helpful, friendly staff. I had forgotten to bring my Redi Points
card, and they looked up my information and made sure I got
my points!
* Clean, nice Waffle House across the parking lot. We arrived
quite late in the evening, and they were open, and eager to
accommodate. Awesome waitress, and even the food was
pretty good.
* Delicious, fresh donuts served in the morning. This was a very
nice and unexected treat!

Cons:

* Just cannot come up with one.

We will definitely stay here the next time we need a place in this area.

While this hotel was clean and was a fine place to crash at night, the customer service experience made us certain to NEVER return. Make sure to present your AAA card at check in (even if you tell them you have a AAA card on the phone while making a reservation) - because they will not honor it at checkout. They have a small sign stuffed on the corner of their check in counter stating this - and when we tried to use our card at check out we were rudely told it was impossible at this point and then told "Look - You're not getting a discount, so if thats all, you should just leave now." The other patrons in the breakfast area were as shocked and horrified at this interaction as we were!
