“Got Crabs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Not the same Red Roost. Service was not that great, crabs were plentiful but quite frankly, why drive to BFE when you can just buy a bushel, grab some beers and invite your friends over. Their prices are through the roof and not worth the trip, ever again.

Best hard crabs in the area. Terrrific all-you-can-eat menu.
Entre items well prepared, good service.
A real crab-picking experience for natives as well as visitors.

“A fun crabhouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

The Red Roost is a good place to visit with friends or a group. I was there with a group of 20 on a Wednesday night and the place was hopping. A live piano player led a sing-along with everyone, playing old songs from the 40's and 50's. John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" brought down the house. I don't know if they have music every night but the food will probably be as good on a Friday as it was last Wednesday. Yes, hard shells served right on the table, but those who don't like to pick can order from the wide-ranging menu. Tip: save room for some Smith Island Cake for dessert.

“AYCE CRABS plus a whole lot more!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

This restaurant is a worthwhile journey to come to! They have the best Maryland Chesapeake crabs to eat. It's totaly fresh and with the old bay seasoning...it's heaven. They have alot of other things that comes with the AYCE crab feast but who cares....as long as they serve these crabs...nothing compares. Our family rents a house nearby every year for vacation and we make this our pilgrimage each time and it gets even better. We even take a local free ferry over a little lake to come to this place but you can certainly reach this place by highway. They even have wonderful desserts that makes the meal such a destination restaurant. Believe me when you come here once, you'll make it back over and over again. Let's hope they won't change their prices:)

“back after 25 yrs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Was in the area so stopped back at the Red Roost after 25yrs.
Everything changes with time but the Red Roost didn't. It was
great to see a part of the local Chesapeake hay day still there.
The service and atmosphere was as good as remembered.
The only change was the quality was a bit lower with crab size.
It is understandable with the over fishing of the bay that went on
for so many years. Surprised you can still get a blue crap dinner.

The price was a little high and the hush puppy's, clam strips
and shrimp quality was not the best but that's not why I go. It's
for the crabs and the chicken. The local sweet corn is always
great too.

As far as nostalgia it was great and the last time I will visit
the area. I hope the roost hangs in there another 25 years.
