“The real definition of a coffee house!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We had sandwiches and coffee at this quaint little place. Plenty of casual seating with an outdoor patio. Food and coffee good but not stellar...I think the venue is what makes this cafe special.

“Best coffeehouse, this is the real deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

One of the hardest parts of moving away from maryland was leaving such a gem behind. I'm way over due for writing a review but better late than never.

If you want a hand crafted properly balanced espreso drink this is the place. If you want a good place to meet, chat and get together with friends, this is the place. Want to get your poetry on- again, this is the place. Additionally the art on display is always good and periodically changing so there is always something to check out. The food is great, the bakegoods are tastey and if you are lucky enough to walk in on a day the owner has made her INCREDIBLE cream of crab soup, get some before it is all out.

Most of all you are treated like family. For your first visit you are warmly welcomed and once you are a regular, they will always know your name and your drink (or if you are like me, patiently wait while you figure out what you want today). Go to Birdies, you will go back!
(note, outdoor seating seasonally)

“A great little coffee house in the east side of town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

This coffee house is easy to miss, but don't. If you have to, turn around. This is just a great place to have a relaxing coffee and sandwich.

“I love Birdies!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

I live in Westminster, and this is my favorite coffee shop in the world. It's a little local wonderful place, full of charm and character, great coffee and exciting mixed coffee drinks, delicious desserts great sandwiches, and the best breakfast oatmeal in the world. Couches and chairs and tables for playing games and reading books with an ourdoor patio area when it's sunny and warm, this place couldn't be better. If you're visiting town, definitely stop by for your java fix! I support Birdies!

“Quintessential Coffee House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2011

Everything about this place fulfills your nostalgia for a genuine coffee house, before Starbucks incorporated and sterilized them. The location is perfect. Set in an historic bulding, where everything is hardwood, the aura that Birdie's gives off stellar. There are themed decorations for each season, artsy decor, complete with a comfy couch, and rotating displays of local art on the walls. My favorite part is the quote about Enlightenment-age coffee houses that adorns the wall in the main room. If it's a nice day, you can sit outside and enjoy the weather in the outdoor seating area. The coffee is good, and they switch blends daily. Espresso drinks are made with care, not mass manufatured, and they have seasonal and just plain creative specialty drinks that you can only get there. The food is never bad. The serve breakfast (sandwiches, bagels, pastires, and omlettes), have sandwiches to order, made to order salads, and fresh-made soups. Most of their food is local by the way. Their baker is local and they make the soup themselves. Even the staff is amazing, people that you would expect to see working in a coffee house, and they know their stuff. They'll be willing to help you out if you don't know what to order. What stands out the most is the amount of care that goes into the whole operation by the owner, who is there a lot of the time, and gets right into the fray, but still manages the business. She has done a good job making her establishment a staple of the community. You may go in for a second but find yourself there for hours enjoying the coffee, food, and music and poetry that's all happening at Birdie's
