For a late-summer respite weekend, I arrived to fresh-baked cookies at the front desk when I checked-in. This hotel seems to stay busy, and that is a good thing. Everyone I encountered was at least "above-average" in their attention and service to me. Most were excellent. I saw many more smiles than I'm used to seeing among workers in hotels. Housekeepers in the halls and on the elevator all looked happy. This says something about the team of employees at the Doubletree Silver Spring. I think they have assembled a good one.
We were in an accessible guestroom with a roll-in shower. The modern decor was impressive, I felt like I was visiting a page from a design magazine. The bed was very comfortable. After returning from an event, I had a wonderful nap on the sofa. Our specific needs, which caused us to require an accessible room, were carefully, courteously and promptly attended.
My only complaint is with whoever assisted me with my reservations and caused us to be given the wrong room, initially. I cannot fault this specific hotel because reservations are not always handled on-site (and this has happened to me before at other hotels). I believe I was transferred outside of the hotel because the person I spoke to told me that multiple hotels were handled at that number. But the bottom line is: the staff at Doubletree made it right once I arrived.
I was particularly impressed with Marta and Tracy at the front desk, and Teddy in the garage. Anyone who has the opportunity to meet Mr. Mucci, when he is the manager on duty, will know that he has a miraculous gift of hospitality. Doubletree is fortunate to have him.
This hotel is in Downtown Silver Spring, walking distance from the City Place Mall and numerous, exciting and walk-able destinations (i.e.: restaurants, shops, theaters, concerts, outdoor markets, churches, a library, municipal center and a courthouse - all within a 4-block radius). The Silver Spring Metro is four blocks away, just beyond the Discover Channel.
I want to go back to this hotel again.
The accessible room on the 3rd floor, that has a roll-in shower, has a queen bed; the one on the 8th...
