I stayed in roughly a dozen hotels in the DC area within the last two months due to business commitments. I limited my choices to 3 and 4 star rated hotels. I would rate this hotel above most of the others based on the quality of the service and the quality of the room. While some of the front desk staff appeared clueless, others were quite helpful. The manager of the hotel was particularily helpful. When I changed my wake up call to 10:00 am from 6:30 am and they called me at 6:30 am anyhow, I brought it to his attention. He then provided me with certificates for two free breakfasts at the hotel restaurant saying "since we woke you up, we can at least feed you". We both got a good laugh over it. If this hotel were located within DC, instead of Silver Springs, I would have rated it higher. Overall, a very nice place. Also a good Italian restaurant is about a block away from (and was recommended by) the hotel.

I just finished staying here for a week in August 2007 and it was truly wonderful. I travel quite a bit and most hotel chains seem to be going to softer beds, however, this one had it just right for me. I like a more firm mattress and the Crown Plaza got it just right for me. The room was spacious and nice. The Hotel Restaurant (River City Grile) was also excellent. It is about 2 blocks away from downtown Silver Spring and tons of good restaurants/shops. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel seems very nice from the lobby but is really nothing special. The beds are comfortable but the hotel is dated and needs upgrading. The location was just north of DC. Our first room was full of smoke and the staff quickly moved one of our two rooms to another floor. The staff was very helpful. One dissapointment was that check out was at noon but the pool didn't open until 11 so that our children were not able to swim before our departure. This hotel was fine for an overnight stay but I am sure there are better hotels for the same price in the area.

My husband, daughter and I needed a reasonably priced hotel in Maryland but I did not want to pay a fortune for one night. We searched on Side Step.com and saw this hotel. Many reviewers had positive things to say and we took a chance. The room was large, as a matter of fact there were two rooms; our daughter was able to sleep in the 2nd room. The color scheme was pleasant and not tacky, and it was very clean. We were quite pleased.
