Wonderful neighborhood restaurant - off the beaten path (unless your path is suburban New Hampshire Ave.) but well worth a trip.
We appreciated the gracious, capable service: 5 star service on our visit. We were promptly seated in the lovely dining room. The sophisticated and tasteful decor was a pleasant surprise, given the strip mall location. Our orders were promptly taken and the delicious food promptly served - though not so quickly that we would feel rushed. A very pleasant gentleman - presumably the manager - greeted us as we waited for our food, thanking us for visiting. When was the last time that happened? Water glasses kept filled, drink refills offered, plates cleared when appropriate, bill brought quickly when requested.
We started with perfect papadams (say that 3 times fast) with fresh, flavorful tamarind and cilantro chutneys. (Mix them together & you have chutney nirvana.)
Our dinner selections ranged from good (pakora, aloo paratha, mixed grill) to excellent (calamari and chicken tikka masala). The garlic naan was crazy good - seriously, this stuff was habit-forming. This was an all-around positive experience, and we will be sure to return to try more of the menu.
