“Tough meat and poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

This place is kind of hidden. We decided to get a nite before a festival (instead of eating street vendor food). Arrived at 1PM on a Saturday and there was one other person eating in. (he ordered one of their raw ground beef dishes and left behind more than half).

It took about fifteen minutes for someone to take our order and another fifteen to get water. We ordered their signature beef dish (tibs) and a veggie dish. The beef was the toughest I have ever had at an Ethiopian place and most of it ended up in my napkin. Our glasses were never refilled and the server never even dropped off the check. I just went to the register, asked for the check, paid and left. This was the first time we both ate at a restaurant and left not satisfied and wondering what could we have. There are too many great Ethiopian restaurants in Silver Spring to ever o back to this one.

“Great neighborhood eats.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

What a great neighborhood Resturant. The food was terrific and the clientele friendly. Had dinner here with a friend. We were eating when the customer at the next table's food arrives, complete with a sizzling cast iron flat plate and an aroma to die for. We asked the the waiter and customer what the dish was. The customer not only told us the name of the dish but demanded we bring a piece of injera over and try it for ourselves. If you have never had Ethopian food it is served and eaten communially. I loved the laidback friendly atmosphere of the Resturant and will definitely be back.

“Wonderful food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

There is a lovely back patio and a couple of more private rooms upstairs. The awaze tibs and awaze chicken are delicious. It is also a very kid friendly place.

“Great Ethiopian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant is in a quiet street and looks like a house from the outside. There is a nice garden section in back. The food is wonderful. If you haven't had Ethiopian before have the waiter explain it. It is spicy but not necessarily hot spicy. We have been eating at this restaurant for a few years. They also have excellent coffee.

“Excellent food, lovely staff, service sometimes a little slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

My favorite Ethiopian in DC area, tucked away in a quiet corner of downtown Silver Spring. Food is delicious, staff is always gracious, one of the owners always chats with us and loves kids. The service is sometimes slow, but that doesn't stop me from stopping in at least once a month. A couple of times we've done carry-out on short notice and they made a lovely presentation on a tray,
