“Amazing property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2008

I only stayed at the Inn at Perry Cabin for one night, but room 43 made me want to stay for months!

The room's decor was clean and charming, the bathroom was great, and the view off the deck - wow! I will definitely come back.

The grounds, restaurants, and spa were amazing as well -

This place is fantastic! Not only the inn, but the surrounding small town charm of St. Michael's. Our room had a great bay view, and had a cozy bed & breakfast feel. It was a little chilly, but that didn't stop us from relaxing outside by the water and walking into the village to shop & eat. I recommend the Bed & Breakfast package - there are several cool places to eat in town, but it's nice to get up in the morning and eat whatever you want in such a nice and relaxed atmosphere. I definitely recommend this place, it's great for romantic trips.

My wife and I just enjoyed a excellent honeymoon at the Inn at Perry Cabin. We were a little concerned because my parents had been there some years back and remembered it as "somewhat grandmotherly." But, the Inn has received a LOT of updating lately and it is in fantastic condition. We experienced nothing but luxury from the service, to the bedding, to the meals, to the location.

Great positives:
- Jay, the bartender at the pool, is a great guy! Be sure to stop and say hello to him.
- The pool itself is very nice. Lots of lounge cars and fluffy towels.
- The waterfront is a wonderful place to sip some wine on a Summer's eve.
- The restaurant in the hotel could not be better.
- The front desk was ready to serve any way they could. They even called around to video rental stores to look for a certain film we requested that was not in the inn's library.

Only drawbacks:
- "Sunset cruise" was overpriced for what it was. Just a motorboat ride around the harbor.
- The town is sleepy. It's cute for a few afternoons of shopping, but plan on spending most of your time at the Inn (luckily, its a great place to spend time at). We stayed four nights and enjoyed them all, but definitely left feeling like we had seen everything there was to see there and still had plenty of time to relax by the pool.
- My wife and I both got massages at the spa and they were "so-so." Not great, not bad really either. They messed up our reservation so we had to reschedule, and the massage itself was ok but not anything to write home about.

Those small things aside, the Inn is really a fantastic place. It is a little pricey, but we got a mid-week special and that helped out a lot.

If you're looking for a spot to get away to on the East Coast, this is a must visit!!

  • Liked — Food, pool, rooms, waterfront
  • Disliked — Locality is somewhat sleepy and dull, spa experience was lackluster

My husband and I recently returned from a long weekend stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin. We loved the property and our room (which was a suite in the newer section). The location of the inn is also great as it is a few minutes walk from the stores and restaurants in St. Michaels. We were disappointed with the service considering it is a 5 star property. But were otherwise very happy with our stay.

After telling our kids for years about this place we'd love to stay in St Michaels, they surprised us with a gift certificate for a night's stay. With rates from $350-700+ its pricey and its not for everybody but it was a delight. With a quaint room overlooking the water and the manicured lawn it was a relaxing retreat. After visiting some of the shops in the historic downtown, we opted to have a late lunch at the Crab Claw in the harbor. What a disappointment. Very overrated. The "famous" crabcake was swallowed up by the bun and the hushpuppies were frozen variety. We came back to the Inn for an early evening appetizer and wine in the pub overlooking the patio and garden. What started out as a quiet romantic evening was ruined by a loud wedding party group. Whatever happened to the good old days of quiet elegance and demeanor? We always enjoy the quiet formality of places like these but were surrounded by people in jeans & shorts. I expected the older crowd to know better but they were the worst. I guess decorum has gone out as well. Our room was wonderful though and the service was first rate. Our king size bed was very comfortable and the little amenities in the room made us feel special. We had a wonderful breakfast the next morning in the restaurant overlooking the water. Morning coffee was especially nice overlooking the serene surrounding. The same crowd that annoyed us the night before made a noisy appearance for awhile and then left, fortunately. All in all, a very nice stay. We'd certainly do it again. Thanks for a great time kids.

  • Liked — Comfy bed, lovely views, and customer service. Convenience to quaint shoppng/walking.
  • Disliked — Noisy crowd at times

Four couples, 50 and up, had a wonderful, relaxing reunion at the Inn at Perry Cabin. The staff was wonderful and very accomodating. We loved the charming sitting rooms, the adirondack chairs by the water front and the lovely rooms. The restaurant was excellent. Wonderful crabcakes!
It was a delightful experience. You can walk to St. Michael's for shopping and dining and drive 10 to 15 minutes to Easton, a charming town, for the same. Lovely experience.

  • Liked — Old World Charm. Great water location. Beautiful buildilng.

We were utterly disappointed with the deteriorating quality of the hotel decor. The carpets were stained and worn in every inch of the hotel (from the seahorse runners on the main level to the blue and white carpet in the newer section to the carpet in our own “historic” room). Several pieces of furniture were falling apart in the two rooms we saw (we switched out of our first room assignment because were so unsatisfied): The chairs were stained yellow on the seats and backs, with the fabric was unraveling from the arms. In the second room, the seat cushion at the desk was stained, the coach was old and worn, the carpet was worn and stained in multiple locations, the armor doors were broken, and the wooden bedside table was peeling apart. I think Laura Ashley would roll over in her grave if she stepped into any of these rooms.

Some of the people at the front desk were unknowledgeable about offerings on Talbot Street, specifically when certain restaurants would be open. We were taken aback that when we asked for a breakfast recommendation in town, one woman replied “Why don’t you want to eat here?” with a bit of an attitude. She could have politely reminded us that the Inn offers breakfast while also providing some alternatives.

Indicative of what we saw as a lack of attention to customer service and property maintenance, we noticed that someone had brought a tray of food out to the Adirondack chairs by the water, and the tray sat there for many hours, maybe even overnight (i.e., it was not removed and cleaned in a timely manner).
