“Top Notch Facility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2007

Top of the line facility.
We only booked one night here and another at a local B&B.
We should have booked both nights here. The B&B concept never appealed to me and now I know why.
Spotless accomodations at the Harbour Inn and very sincere and friendly service.
My wife and I are fishing/hunting/ rugged outdoors types and don't look or dress like your typical St. Michaels visitor.
We were still treated like royalty.
I would go back in a second.

My husband and I enjoyed a cozy stay at the hotel. We were greeted with a friendly smile by the receptionist at the front desk. The room was clean, comfortable, and appealing. We both took advantage of the spa located in the hotel and were treated to soothing, relaxing massages. The weather cooperated with our stay and we rented bicycles (suggested by the staff) and rode into town to stroll through the quaint shops and take in all the festivities of the Christmas season. I would recommend to other couples looking for a weekend get-away.

I have stayed in many expensive spa resorts and this one certainly does not measure up to it's reputation or price. The spa was well appointed and the views from the rooms were beautiful. However, the rooms had old furniture and carpet and the beds had store bought comforters. The bathroom tiles were cracked and the shower curtain had blood on it. The front desk staff was rude and arguementative. Our Pajama Party Package did not come with all that we were promised.

We would like to thank the guest for her contructive comments, we are in the process of upgrading the furniture in our rooms, and making repairs to bathroom fixtures as necessary. I am sorry to read about the stain on the shower curtain, as we would have liked to address that during the guests stay. I am surprised to hear that a guest thought our staff were rude, we pride ourselves in our Eastern Shore welcome. The pajama party package has been extremely popular and we list all that is included.

1. The room had only one beat up dresser with two small drawers.
2. The room had only one chair.
3. The wall were so thin that not only could we hear the baby crying in the adjacent room, we could hear the people talking.
4. The bathroom door would not close.
5. The bathroom exhaust fan was so weak it took over 30 minutes for the steam to clear.
6. There was only a small area on the sink for toiletries, makeup, etc.
7. The closet had only two hangers.

Since there was a group of us staying there I asked others in the party what they thought and all were of the same conclusion: it is too run down to be worth the price. None would return.

Marina: one of our favorite spots--because of the ambiance. BEST dock hands we've ever had. Newspapers delivered in the a.m. Love the bar and the restaurant and the free bikes. So, why the 3 rating? the pool! That is something boaters like to use--as do hotel guests paying the pricey rates at Harbour Inn. It did not seem well kept--dirty tiles, poolside shabby, chairs awful and smelling of mildew. A hot tub that had no working jets.

Stress just seems to fade once you wander out of the Northeast Corridor and onto the back roads of the Delmarva. The excellent flat, expansive highways of Maryland’s Eastern Shore lead to some fabulous out-of-the-way places, like St. Michaels. The St. Michaels Harbour Inn & Marina sits prominently at one corner of this town’s exceptionally attractive harbor. Catering to visitors arriving by either boat or car, this is certainly one of the Eastern Shore’s premier lodging facilities.

We opted for a Miles River Suite, which featured a large main living room with a pullout sofa bed, a full master bedroom and a compliment of amenities like a good sized refrigerator, large screen TV’s in each room, a DVD player, a wet bar, etc. Best of all was the expansive deck overlooking the Miles River, with separate entrances from both the living room and bedroom. The space was completely private and as large as one of those opulent yachts moored below in the marina.

The inn itself is an attractive three story structure set right at the water’s edge and surrounded by the facility’s marina. It’s located several blocks behind busy Talbot Street, making it a bit removed from the town center. Amenities include a pleasant outdoor pool area, complete with Jacuzzi and fronting an indoor bar, an on site restaurant and a convenient (though overpriced, of course) souvenir and sundries shop. The full service spa is located on the third floor next to a small but well stocked fitness room. Furnishings throughout the property, featuring a nautical motif, are elegant, and the common areas are nicely appointed and well maintained.

Our recent two-night stay was very comfortable and it would be hard to find fault with this generally excellent property. The only soft spot we found was the restaurant, which we sampled only for breakfast on one morning. The food was bland, the service distant and the tab extremely overpriced.

Speaking of prices, note that you will pay good money to stay here. Our off-season mid-week rate of $199 (plus taxes and fees) seemed fair enough but prices can more than double in season, making the overall price-for-value equation here somewhat debatable.

In any event, we’d recommend a stay here to anyone willing to shell out a few dollars for premiere lodging and interested in venturing down one of those fantastic Eastern Shore roads toward St. Michaels.

My husband and I booked a recent getaway to the Harbour Inn and stayed in a standard room. We were shocked by how shabby the room was with a dark depressing decor, mismatched furniture and a lumpy bed. I could expect this at a Comfort Inn for $79 but I expected more from the Inn and for the price of $199. We also found there was not much to do in St. Michaels. We ended up leaving a night early.

As mentioned earlier we are in the process of replacing some furniture. Our mattresses are new and we get great compliments so I am sorry you had an uncomfortable night. St. Michaels is a quaint historic town and while you don't find the kind of activities a larger tourist town can provide, it's nice to wander the main street, visit the maritime museum or enjoy time on your balcony together.
