“Relaxed with great service and delicious breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

What a warm greeting with care and concern that we should have a great experience during our weekend. The room was comfortable and well decorated. Coffee and tea available 24 hours with tasty cookies in the afternoon. The best was breakfast, catered to my dietary needs, such wonderful baking, with the main meal served superfluously with great flavor and presentation, a real delight.

Room Tip: Not be facing the main road to avoid evening car noise.

My wife and I had a fabuous time visiting St. Michaels. We stayed at the Parsonage for 2 nights. We had a pleasant stay at the PArsonage Inn, staying at one of the back rooms. It was fine. There was just nothing superlative about it, other than the location. On the other hand, there was nothing overly negative either, hence my 3 star rating. I think my view was biased by the many great reviews on this site. I expected a spectacular b&b, but instead experienced a nice b&b.

The Good: the breakfast
friendly innkeeper
great location in the middle of St. Michaels
everything was clean

The Not so Good: the room. It was plain and small. The main problem I had with it was trying to regulae the temperature. There was a gas fireplace, but when that was on, the room got too hot. when it was off, the room got too cold. there was no way to reliably regulate the temperature, which lead to uncomfortable sleeping. In addition, there were cold drafts coming in from the bathroom windows.

We stayed here just one night, and were made to feel very welcome by manager, Kathy, and enjoyed chatting with her. Our room, Martha's Morning Sunshine Room, was compact, but perfectly ok for a 1 night stay, but beware traffic noise if you are a light sleeper, as the inn is situated on the main road that runs through the town. The bathroom (no bath, just shower) is a little tired, but was spotlessly clean. A nice touch was the facility to help yourself to tea/coffee in the living room, and after dinner in town it was pleasant to relax in the living room and have a coffee. Our room was decorated in Victorian style, rather flowery and lots of lace, so if your style is clean lines and minimalism, this is not the place for you. Unfortunately breakfast was a disappointment, not being a fan of eating quiche for breakfast. The portion was generous, served with fried potatoes. We were also served a small individual bowl of freshly cut fruit, which I'm afraid was tasteless (melon unripe). Quiche for breakfast is not something that gets served up at breakfast in Europe (we are English), and it would have been nice to have some fresh bread/toast and good jam in addition to the quiche. Kathy's "bread" was what we English call cake, so that too was (for us) an odd item to see on the breakfast table and eat with quiche and fried potatoes. Other guests were tucking in and TA reviewers have praised the breakfasts, so I wonder if this is a case of cultural difference! The Inn is very well located, on the main street and walking distance to everything in St Michael's. In spite of breakfast disappointment, the Parsonage Inn represents very good value in a town where many other B&Bs are much more costly.

We stayed at room 4/Hannah's. The room was small but comfortable. The corridor light between our and the adjacent room bothered me at night while trying to sleep. The room door has a small glass section in the upper part that lets the light in. In the middle of the night I tried to find the switch to turn the light off without success. Finally I loosened the bulb and then slept well! A curtain should help.

The dog Katie is well behaved and seems to enjoy welcoming the guests.. Breakfast was tasty. So were the chocolate chip cookies in the common area. I would suggest though covering the cookies with a see-through top.

Although the B&B is slightly towards the end of the town, due to the small size of the town, everything is still within walking distance.

We recently stayed at the Parsonage Inn for a short weekend getaway. There are very few B&Bs who will offer a 1 night stay only which was all we needed. The room (#2) was clean and comfortable. The only downside was the street noise as the room is located on the main road through town and with old windows the cars passing are a bit loud. The inn is right in town and you can park and walk to everything. Breakfast was very nice, food good and plentiful. There is coffee, tea and water available all day and a great movie selection.

We had room #3. It was small but comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in the parlor by the fireplace before breakfast. The food was tasty and plentiful. The real value was in the pricing. We have paid much more and received much less at other B&Bs.

Room Tip: Although the Inn is on the northern edge of town, everything is within walking distance.

Having stayed in St. Michaels before, we recognized the Parsonage Inn from their website. I made the reservations online and then talked with Kathy on the phone a few days later. My first comments are clean, clean, clean and really cozy!! I was happy that it was cold and rainy outside because it made the Parsonage Inn that much more inviting. Kathy is extremely personable and the lovely Labrador Retriever "Katie".....is a real sweetheart. Kathy's breakfasts were absolutely outstanding!! Stay here!! It's great!!
