This really is a gem and a terrific window into the Chesapeake Bay. Their collection of boats is wonderful, the permanent exhibits are great, and they always have something new and interesting in the changing exhibits. Combine that with a friendly and knowledgeable staff and you have a great experience. The town of St. Michael's has developed into more of a touristy, t-shirt, gift shop kind of town than I care for, but I'm always perfectly happy sticking to the museum! See if you can catch a ride out onto the river in their buyboat the Mister Jim or on a skipjack. Capt. "Wadey" Murphy is one of the last true skipjack captains - although he usually sails out of Tilghman, a short drive away, you can sometimes catch him at the museum.

Thank you for your review, and more importantly, for your continued visits. Captain Ed Farley with the skipjack H. M. Krentz also departs from our campus with chartered groups for heritage and eco tours of the Miles River. He dredges for oysters on the same skipjack each winter. We hope you will join us again soon.
