“Great Place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

It was so easy to get to DC on the train. The staff and hotel were great. I hope to get back and finish were I left off on site seeing. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Was at a conference and the food was excellent.

This was my first time travelling to the Washington DC area and I chose to stay at the Hilton Rockville. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the stay were very kind and helpful. The rooms and the gym were very well maintained. I see no reason to even consider any other hotel should I return to the area.

This is a beautiful hotel with super easy access to the Metro Rail that will take you into DC. I was there for business and my boyfriend came along as a mini vacation. He had plenty to do during the day with DC so easy to get to, the zoo so close and the other stops in MD have fun restaurants/bars. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is well set up and in good repair. In fact it is about all that you would expect for a Hilton brand hotel. In addition it is right next to the Twinbrook metro station so very easy to get to from Amtrak and the airports with no need for a taxi or rental car. It is also the closest full service hotel to the FDA offices in Rockville and therein may lie the reason for their discriminatory reservation policy. They don't need the occasional guest because there is built in demand that can be counted on to fill the hotel much of the time. I have stayed there a number of times when attending meetings at FDA and for pharmaceutical-related conferences which are held in the hotel conference center, again because of the proximity to FDA. Organizers know that if you put a conference close by you will get more FDA attendees than if they have to travel to other parts of the DC area.

On my last 2 visits to Rockville the Hilton refused to take a reservation for a 1 night stay. They would make reservations for 2 nights or more including the single night requested indicating that rooms were available, but they would not book just the single night. Frankly, their policy stinks but they continue to have a captive audience so I guess they could care less. Shame on them!

Room Tip: Lots of rooms exit onto halls around an internal atrium so that the curtains must be drawn all the t...

Good experience, good hotel, friendly and accommodating staff! If you want to be comfortable in clean surroundings with helpful staff, this is your place. When I am in town for business I will stay here.

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper stay away from interior courtyard.

I have attended a few meetings here. Every time I come here I expect the layout to grow on me, but it doesn't. The hotel is doing some renovations currently and I expect that will yield some visual improvement and improved elevator service. I think the hotel is doable for a business stay or multi conference room layout. The event hall can use some updating. I will also add that staff are friendly and that counts in my book. I simply would not recommend this hotel for personal use if you have other options.

Arrived late in the evening for a one night stay and was quickly checked in to a room on the fourth floor. As a Hilton gold member, I got free Internet and a coupon for the breakfast buffet. The Internet was fast and easy to connect to, and the breakfast was quite good with fruit, cheese, cold cuts, as well as extensive hot food including oatmeal and grits.

The room itself overlooks the large atrium which makes up the hotel itself. In the well of the atrium resides a large open space bounded by a restaurant and a lobby bar. Unfortunately, anyone talking in the lobby can be heard in all the rooms. This became especially distressing at about 5:30 am at which time dishes and glasses were set up for breakfast while, simultaneously, a school tour of some sort began gathering in the lobby space. The noise from both the clattering of dishware and the students was considerable, and easily heard in the rooms.

There are some rooms that apparently do not overlook the atrium. I would strongly advise guests to seek out those rooms if the choice is available.
