“Solid hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Good experience, good hotel, friendly and accommodating staff! If you want to be comfortable in clean surroundings with helpful staff, this is your place. When I am in town for business I will stay here.

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper stay away from interior courtyard.

I have attended a few meetings here. Every time I come here I expect the layout to grow on me, but it doesn't. The hotel is doing some renovations currently and I expect that will yield some visual improvement and improved elevator service. I think the hotel is doable for a business stay or multi conference room layout. The event hall can use some updating. I will also add that staff are friendly and that counts in my book. I simply would not recommend this hotel for personal use if you have other options.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Arrived late in the evening for a one night stay and was quickly checked in to a room on the fourth floor. As a Hilton gold member, I got free Internet and a coupon for the breakfast buffet. The Internet was fast and easy to connect to, and the breakfast was quite good with fruit, cheese, cold cuts, as well as extensive hot food including oatmeal and grits.

The room itself overlooks the large atrium which makes up the hotel itself. In the well of the atrium resides a large open space bounded by a restaurant and a lobby bar. Unfortunately, anyone talking in the lobby can be heard in all the rooms. This became especially distressing at about 5:30 am at which time dishes and glasses were set up for breakfast while, simultaneously, a school tour of some sort began gathering in the lobby space. The noise from both the clattering of dishware and the students was considerable, and easily heard in the rooms.

There are some rooms that apparently do not overlook the atrium. I would strongly advise guests to seek out those rooms if the choice is available.

By Hilton standards, this one barely made it. Lay out was a bit confusing...from the parking to the multi-level lobby/breakfast area.

Front desk did not show much...they appreared to be "monitored" by the managers behind them...and the check-in was no trainee.

A undistinguishable and stiff property..will look for something that has some degree of warmth and noticeable features next time

This Hilton property is about 40 minutes from,Washingotn DC depending on traffic. If traffic kicks in it can take you up to over one hour on a bad day.
On arrival, the reception was friendly and accomodating. My room was clean and quiet.

The club lounch was in renovation. Breakfast was not very exciting. For a Hilton it was below average in terms of choise.
When I asked for an expresso, I was told that the hotel only offered regular coffee......

So if you like a nice expresso or cappuchino you will have to get a car....

While we appreciate you pointing out our close proximity to DC, we’d like to mention that we are located just steps from the Metro for an easy and convenient travel into the city. We deeply regret that you felt we did not live up to the standards of the Hilton brand and we thank you for sharing your review. We hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel & Executive Meeting Center.

Stayed here for two nights to attend a conference at a nearby hotel (which was booked). Clearly this was formerly an Embassy Suites in its former life. Elevators were finicky, one of which was out of order. My particular room had two entry doors, once facing the atrium (with no room number on it) and one on the back side hallway. the only window faced inward to the atrium and therefore i kept the curtain closed to keep passersby from seeing into my room. because of the layout with no window to the outside, the room was very dark. beyond this issue, my room was clean and comfortable - flat screen, decent mattress, etc. What you would expect from a Hilton.

on the other hand, the service at the breakfast was almost nonexistent. it would actually have been better if it was a self-serve program. Although the chef at the omelet station turned out good product, I had to search for staff both mornings. last comment on breakfast - stay away from the coffee - it consistently tasted like motor oil.

The Hotel bar is fine and business can be conducted in the atrium as it is expansive. There is a Metro station (I forget the stop) directly behind the hotel which makes for easy transit into DC.

I used the gym both days. it may be hard to find but it has updated equipment - weights, treadmills, etc. my bottom line is I would stay here again if I had to but the North Bethesda Marriott is my first choice for this area (I am a 5 year Diamond with Hilton).

Room Tip: Chose a room with windows to the outside (not the atrium). Avoid the loby coffee.

Friends and I went on a road trip to Washington DC and chose this hotel in MD because we got a great price. We used gps to take us to "1750 Rockville Pike" but got routed to some type of campus. We called the hotel numerous times to get direction since the gps kept putting us to the wrong place. On my 4th try, I finally spoke with someone (wish I got her name) who stated not to use the gps because numbering on Rockville Pike are off and gave us correct directions. Overall the hotel was nice and very comfortable. Staff was very nice as well!

Room Tip: Try to get a higher room on the outer sides of the hotel.
