“Just about everything I want in a hotel stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We chose this hotel because it is relatively central to three days' worth of obligations. We didn't realize, however, that the Washington Metro Twinbrook stop is about a block away, so the location was perfect and really cut down on car travel. The only thing that was inconvenient was that two of the four elevators were being refurbished, so sometimes there was a long wait. Otherwise, it was quiet (despite the fact that this was during Spring Break and there were herds of high school kids surging through the halls), clean, and a good place to relax after working.

We had a lovely time, Our room was clean the bed was comfy. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. We had the opportunity to partake in Easter brunch and it was fantastic. The food and service was outstanding. Having the Metro directly behind the hotel was awesome! Great place for a weekend D.C. trip.

The location is great if you are planning on taking the Metrorail into Washington DC as it is just a short walk across the street. The front desk attendant cautioned us about going out after dark, so we were afraid to leave the hotel in the evening. Parking was pricey. The indoor pool was nice although too cool. There was a lifeguard on duty at the pool, although not very friendly. The elevators were a gamble as to whether you would reach your destination; although signs indicated an elevator replacement soon. There was coffee out in the morning in the lobby area. As we were pouring a cup, the staff scolded us that it cost $2.00 per cup. It is apparently free to no one, not even paying guests. Needless to say they kept their coffee. The room was clean and comfortable but the overwhelming feeling was that they didn't appreciate their customers.

Thank you for your review though it’s disappointing that this is the impression you were left with at the end of your stay. We highly value our guests’ time with us, as well as the feedback that they provide, and can assure you that your review will be shared with our staff. We sincerely regret any inconveniences in our lobby but please know that complimentary in-room LavAzza Italian Coffee is always available in our guest rooms. We deeply regret any concerns that you may have had regarding our area at night. Though the safety of our guests is a top priority, we trust that it was not our staff's intentions to create any apprehension. We can assure you we'll pass along your comments and we hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

My family and I stayed here recently on our way to a weekend in DC. We scored a great deal through a discount online booking site. The hotel quality for the cost was excellent. I called ahead and requested, and received, 2 queen size beds that accomodated our family of 4. The inside of the hotel is quite impressive with an open center that houses the bar, restaurant and relaxation areas. Staff at the bar and restaurant were helpful and friendly. The kids loved the indoor pool. The beds were OK. Many choices of restaurants and shopping nearby.

They are undergoing some elevator renovations which made getting to/from our room a small hassle as they only had 1-2 working elevators for this good sized hotel. It was not a big problem on the weekend but I can't imagine what prime times would be like during the week. Management acknowledges the inconvenience with signage in the hotel and with a letter at checkout, which is a nice touch. Parking (which is $15/day) was a pain with the system not functioning when we arrived (perhaps it's tied into the elevator system?). As a result, I had to go back to the front desk later -- standing in line again -- to get a parking ticket. I'm not used to paying for parking outside of major city centers. They need some better way. The front desk person comp'd me the 1 night parking for the inconvenience, which was appreciated.

Overall I thought this hotel was very good, especially in light of the discounted price. It's close to a metro stop so we may stay here the entire time on our next trip to DC. Supposed to be a 28 minute metro ride to Metro center.
It could be excellent if they correct their parking and elevator situation.

Hotel set up was convenient and well put together for business travelers. The bar atmosphere was friendly with a bar staff that understood the needs of the business person. The meeting rooms were comfortable and well suited for meetings. Parking was convenient (although expensive)

I was part of a big tour group where my own party had booked two rooms. I had asked the women manning the front desk if we could be given adjoining rooms and that I was a HHonors Gold account member. With a very annoyed look and tone, she refused and said that see gave out too many rooms to the tour group a
lready and that I should check with the other parties to see if anyone was willing to make a trade. It seems like having hilton gold doesn't mean anything here and I wasn't even demanding much. Plus, I made sure to asked really nicely. I think this women really needs to not be in the hospitality business because it seems like she doesn't like her job here. It would have been so much better if she had been nice and just said very politely that she was so sorry and that there was no rooms available even if that was a lie instead of just barking off the response that she did and looking as annoyed as she was.

Fortunately, I've stayed in many Hilton hotels and this has been my only bad experience. Maybe its DC and the people aren't as nice.

Thank you for sharing your experience. On behalf of our staff, we’d like to extend our sincere apologies that we were unable to meet your request for adjoining rooms. As a Hilton HHonors Gold VIP member and valued guest, we truly regret to learn of you experience at check-in and can assure you that this is not reflective of our normally high standards. Your review will be passed along to the appropriate departments and we hope you’ll give us the opportunity to welcome you back again.

Full time business traveler: This hotel has a plenty to like about it but a few things that aren't stellar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was some confusion to the parking options (I was directed to the surface lot only to find it full -- which I was then directed to the underground lot). Advice: when you pull into9 the hotel, scan the small surface lot for any available spaces before driving into it (it is a little hard to get back out of). Even better is probably to go straight for the underground lot. There are plenty of very close eating and shopping options.
The building itself is non distinct. The lobby is nice but far from opulent. The room was nice. It is not sparklingly new but it is far from having a worn feel to it. The environmental controls were so-so but adequate. Furnishings, again, were good but not great. Internet was decent.

I would give this hotel 3.5 out of 5, but having to choose 3 or 4 I believe it is closer to 4 than 3. I give it an overall recommend.
