“Great Hotel for a Great Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2009

We previously stayed here four years ago and had a great time, so we booked a room for one night in July 2009. Nothing had changed in the four years; the hotel was as nice as the first time we stayed here. Pillows were fluffy, sheets were crisp and clean. The bathroom was clean and immaculate. Our room had a waist-high refrigerator. There was a nice breakfast selection which included bagels, pastries, cold cereal, instant hot cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, apple and orange juice, 2% milk, etc. and was well-stocked and maintained by a busy gentleman. Unfortunatelly we didn't have a chance to use the pool as it rained the afternoon we were there. The hotel is located in a quiet office park. We could hear vehicle traffic from I276 through the closed window of our room. There is a large shopping complex a short drive away. There is also a shuttle bus which runs to the Shady Grove Metro Station.

Nice area of Maryland. You are close to many nice restaurants and the subway to Washington DC. The rooms were clean. We had a single queen bed that looked like an oversized full sized bed. Our room had an oversize shower stall with no bathtub. The complimentary continental breakfast is very basic…three or four choices of breakfast cereal, bagel, toast & muffin.

You will hear the noise of the door slamming close from the jointing rooms and people walking in the room above.

Dear CincinnatiDave:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our hotel! We appreciate your efforts and I will be sure to share your comments with our team.

As you noted, our hotel is "no frills", very cozy and simple. We pride ourselves on a clean and friendly hotel. Our product offerings may seem basic, but our customers tell us over and over they want us to keep it simple and be consistent. So, we do our best to make sure we are at the top of our game.

Next time you are staying with us, or at any hotel for that matter, and you have issues with noisy guests in the hallways or excessive noise, remember there are associates that can help. Many times we can remind your neighbors that others are trying to rest and we can help with noise issues like this. A quick call to the front desk and we will be happy to assist anyway we can.

Thanks again for your comments and we hope to see you again the next time travel brings you through Rockville, Maryland!

Sincerely,

Chris Zindash

Just got back from taking 80+ mother on a trip to see cherry blossoms. Never been on subway b4 and ease of getting on and off in shady grove was perfect. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable.
Can't say a lot for D.C. people have NO respect for elderly or wheelchairs.
Glad to have a friendly place at the end of the day.
Thanx Sleep Inn.................

If you've got to be in or near Rockville, Gaithersburg, or Germantown, stay here. This hotel was the tops for the price. It is located in a business park near I270 but not ON it so you don't hear the traffic noise. If you can't find it, keep looking because it is definitely worth it. (Gude Rd is a straight, easy shot around Rockville.) The biz park setting makes it quiet, quiet, quiet. We were there during a holiday weekend which probably also added to the quiet. We slept like logs. The room was perfect, beds were very comfy, the soap, shampoo, and conditioner were of good quality. Water pressure and hot water were just right. The cont breakfast was the usual fare. Sleep Inns often have waffle makers but this one didn't. Maybe Mgmt will consider? Either way, we would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Dear NC 1000,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel! We appreciate your feedback, and thank you for your insight on your stay. We are glad you enjoyed your visit, and found our hotel to be a great value!

We have considered the waffle makers for the breakfast buffet, and will take another look at it. Right now, it's not part of Sleep Inn brand standards, and many of the other offerings have to be there to make our breakfast complete. But, we are always evaluating our breakfast layouts. Thanks again for your ideas!

Please come back and visit us again soon!

I have stayed at this hotel several times within the past year and my most recent stay reminded me that I have not commented on it. This review is representative of all of my other stays, which speaks of consistancy by the hotel.

Locale: The hotel is located within a quasi-business park setting. In fact that is the only thing to beware of. If you want to get something to eat, etc then you drive. The locale is full of offices and they all close at, say, 5 P.M. That said, finding some place to eat, etc isn't that hard if you have a Garmin or similar car nav device, but can be daunting if you are without.

This is a very safe area, as I suspect there are more than a few security cameras are looking over the businesses. About the only "bad" thing I can say is that the sign pointing to the hotel is very small. For example, the business associate picking me up the next day during this latest visit had trouble finding the actual hotel, using a personal navigation device. He eventually saw the hotel's sign and referred to it as "very discrete."

A HUGE PLUS for the business traveler lay with this hotel's conveinence to Washington, DC. While in the Shady Grove neighborhood of Rockville, MD, it is actually about a mile from the DC metro. Catch the metro and you can get to most of key points within DC. Plus, the hotel has a shuttle to the metro. Be sure to call if you need a pick up on the return trip.

Hotel Proper: This is a nice business class hotel. Ergo, it has a check in desk, breakfast area and the rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is continental style, which means various breads, cereal, etc, coffee/juice. Not bad, but could be better, as such things go (I stay at A LOT of business class hotels).

Room: The rooms are spacious and are very clean. The bed is very comfortable, with good linens. Further, the climate control works great. Bathroom wise, so far, I have not seen a tub and am suspecting that they only have showers (which is fine by me). The bathrooms are all tiled and the linens are adequate (quality and quantity wise).

Other: The internet connectivity is among the best that I have encountered in a hotel of any class and it is FREE. It is blazing hot fast, comparable to what a business traveler is accustomed to within their home office. It is excellent for downloading big files, such as the latest Powerpoint revision, etc.

The cable TV selection is good too. Some business class hotels have begun to scrimp on cable, which makes catching a good movie or ballgame a bummer when relaxing when on the road for business.

Summary: I'll stay there again (and will probably do so within a month).

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and we were pleasantly surprised by the nice rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly and helpful staff. This is not a fancy hotel but the rooms were clean, we had plenty of towels, and the shower was oversized. The price was right and the complimentary, continental breakfast was always good. The one thing that could have been better was the television. The color was green but we weren't around much to watch it so it didn't matter.

Dear LillyWestport_MA,

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on our hotel and recommend it to fellow travelers! We appreciate you staying with us, and look forward to future visits.

I am pleased you found our accommodations comfortable and enjoyed your stay. We are a very good value in the metro DC area, so I am pleased you found our hotel a pleasant stay.

I have noted your comment regarding our televisions. We are aware that some of our TV's need replaced, but as you know the TV industry is going through some Digital TV changes in February 2009, so we are going to be addressing these matters in the next year as the DTV conversion begins. It is important that the televisions we get moving forward meet the requirements to our guests can enjoy the channel lineups our satellite services offer.

Thanks again for your comments, and we hope to see you again very soon!

The metro shuttle service is very unclear. You have to specifically ask the front desk in order to get all the necessary information. The shuttle is supposed to run continously between 7 AM and 9 PM, yet it doesn't run at various times. When you ask the front desk to help you out with the shuttle, they either ignore you or hang up the phone.

I'm sorry to hear your experience at our hotel was less than satisfactory. I noted you had issues with our shuttle service during your stay. I apologize that this wasn't right for you.

We are working with our guest services team and have improved our communication in this area. There is no excuse for poor service!
