My husband and I stayed at the Woodfin Suites Hotel in Rockville while I was having medical treatments nearby. The Woodfin became our oasis during a very stressful time. Now we're planning to return in June for a real vacation.
Our king suite was spacious, clean, and felt like home. We needed to bring our cat on this trip, and were very impressed with the cleanliness of the Woodfin. (We've stayed at other pet-friendly places that did not have the same standards.) Our suite had a quiet and calming atmosphere, which we appreciated. Our rooms overlooked the courtyard and the beautiful trees. The two TVs were wonderful - both of us could watch what we wanted in comfort. We brought our laptop computer and checked e-mail daily at the large workstation in our room (thanks to the friendly staff who helped us get online).
The kitchen with its full-size refrigerator held all of our food and my medicines for our extended stay. We cooked meals in the kitchen, and used the nice dishes and glassware. Other nights, we splurged with the take-out menu...we recommend trying as many of the desserts as possible!
The morning breakfast was outstanding. Every day had a different selection of eggs and meats, plus a Belgian waffle maker if you really wanted to indulge.
The outdoor pool wasn't open during our stay in March, but we're looking forward to swimming in June and using the fitness center. If it rains, you can borrow DVDs for free in the hotel lobby to play in your suite.
The staff was top-notch. They were professional, friendly, helpful, and understanding. We met many of them during our stay at the Woodfin, and they truly made us feel at home.
I'm so glad we found the Woodfin. You cannot beat their combination of lovely accommodations, great food, professional service, and a very reasonable price. The Woodfin is truly a gem!

  • Liked — It was spacious, clean, and peaceful.
  • Disliked — There was occasional traffic noise from the major road that runs nearby.

Woodfin has the friendliest staff I've encountered in ages. Their concierge/shuttle driver, Thomas, is particularly deserving of honorable mention. He takes care of his guests and can really lift one's spirits at the end of a long day.
Two colleagues and I stayed here for a week on a business trip. The 1-bedroom suite (with pull-out sofa) had plenty of room, even for three women. We all found the room comfortable and mostly clean; there was a slight aroma of smoke, either from the hotel's pre-non-smoking days or perhaps from some guest violating the no-smoking rules. But most importantly, the bathroom and kitchen were clean!
The hotel offers a tasty & filling breakfast -- yummy scrambled eggs, mini-muffins, fruit, etc. -- not your normal, measly "continental" disappointment. They also have a bar and restaurant, so you can stay out of the kitchen if you want.
I think you'll find it easy to feel at home here.

I spent an Saturday evening at this hotel with a friend who had been there on business for a week. When I went inside to call my friend's room, the front desk was very helpful in calling her (since they won't give our room numbers) and letting her know that she had a guest downstairs.

The property is very large, and I found it a little confusing to get around. There is plenty of parking around the building, so you should be able to park close to the nearest entrance for you. The parking areas and walkways were well lit.

The room itself was really nice. We had a suite with a king bed that was very comfortable. There was also a sofa bed to accomodate more guests in the living room. The kitchen had a convection oven, a nice touch for an extended stay. The kitchen itself was very nice, with updated cabinetry and granite countertops. There was a small table for two in one corner, and the sofabed and a chair in the other. It was nice to have doors to close off the bedroom from the living area, especially to cut down noise in the living area if you have a guest. The bathroom had a nice granity vanity and sink area outside of the shower/toilet area. The bedroom had a very large desk. It was all very nice compared to other extended stays that I've stayed in.

The hotel offers complimentary breakfast for registered guests, but others pay $16 for the full American breakfast. We passed and went to Starbucks. Within a mile is a large shopping area with a Safeway, salons and several restaurants, so you don't have to always eat at the hotel.

All in all, I thought it was a fantastic deal for the money. A lot of the "nicer" extended stays come with high prices, so at $115 night (averaged over weekends/weekdays), it was a steal!

  • Liked — The rooms are very comfortable.
  • Disliked — The noise from I-270 can stream in from time to time.

My husband and I booked our suite through Hotels.com and got a good deal ($85/night). The suites are large with two separate rooms, one with a seating area and kitchen nook and the other one with a bedroom. Don't expect any luxury or modern design, but it was sufficient enough for the to of us and our two dogs.

When we checked in I first got a room with two double beds and asked if I could have one king instead. The man at the front desk was very polite and kind and changed our suite to one with a king sized bed. He also asked what floor we would like our room. The lobby also had a shelf with movies and books to borrow from the hotel.

There was a nice pool area in the courtyard. We didn't use it but saw some families with children do so.

The best part was probably the breakfast buffee which was included in the price. They had all kinds of food, hot and cold options, juice and coffee and nice service. I would stay at this hotel again just for the breakfast. Great deal!

  • Liked — The included brekafast buffee
  • Disliked — The rooms and bathrooms could use an update

Had planned on staying here for one night with our 3 children on New year's eve - we were going to a party nearby and just needed a place to sleep. Front desk was very nice and efficient - but when we walked into our room ( a 2 bedroom suite) we were nearly knocked over with the smell of mildew and mold. We immediately went back to the front desk and told them we wouldn't be staying there (didn't want another room - any hotel that would allow this situation wasn't a hotel we wanted to stay in). They were very accomodating and canceled our reservation immediately with no penalty. We then checked into the Marriott Courtyard down the road and were pleased with the cleanliness and overall feel of the hotel.

The Woodfin should be ashamed of themselves!
