“Great Value For a Trip to Washington, DC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2009

The Best Western Rockville. MD was an exceptional value for our trip to Washington, DC. The rooms were very clean, the full breakfast was included and very good, and the service was great. The staff will shuttle you to the subway. The red line will take you right into Washington, DC (about a 30 minute ride). The hotel shuttle also has scheduled pick-ups from the subway back to the hotel. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff was great as was every staff member we dealt with from the front desk to the shuttle. Liza Bordeaux was especially kind and helpful. She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. There are various places to eat around Rockville and many places to order from for delivery (the staff will help you out with those). Overall, great experience. If you are budget conscious travelers like we are, you should definitely check out this hotel. We were able to spend much more $$ in Washington, DC because we saved so much staying in Rockville, MD.

It was my first visit to DC and my boyfriend's first as an adult tourist. We were tight on money, so this hotel was perfect for those on a budget. But the hotel doesn't feel like it!
Location:
The hotel sits above the avenue. There's a gas station conveniently across the street from the hotel and close to the entrance to I-270.

Checking in:
The lady who checked us in wasn't the happiest, but that only lasted a couple of minutes.
All other hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Rooms:
Remodled nicely. Clean. Comfortable king-size bed that could fit double of us. Flat screen t.v.

Breakfast:
I would call it a Continental Plus breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, a make-your-own waffle station, cereal, fruit, etc. Good!

Internet access:
There are three internet stations and a printer in the business center. Always accessible.

Hotel Shuttle to Metro Station:
The shuttle leaves every hour. We didn't use it, just because it seemed like it wasn't the time or on time when we were leaving, and we had our own car. We drove the 2+ miles to the metro station and luckily found parking. The Metro lot fills up fast and at the time cost $4.75/day (paid only with the SmartCard), or there's a parking lot at the corner across trom the station which was $9.00 all day.

We would definitely stay here again.

We travelled to vist DC with our young children, booked early and with a AAA discount, ended up staying for an amazing price and it suited our needs very well. Clean, quiet and a great free continental breakfast with many choices. Many hotels we have stayed at run out of food, but this one had great, hot food which made this an even better bargain for our family. Unlike the other reviewer who stayed the same nights as us, we did not see any cars broken into...the area is VERY business oriented and not a place people can access to just roam around, I seriously doubt this is true. The area is great, the shuttle service was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. A quick ride to DC, it was a great stay- thanks

Just returned with a youth group from our March Break trip. Stayed in this hotel for two nights. Friendly and helpfull staff, great location. Bonus - full breakfast was included in the price which is an added bonus when travelling with a large group. Thank you to the Management and Staff.

For the Price of the hotel, it was ok. Upon arrival, check-in was fine. When we went up to the room, there was like dry crusted pizza sauce on the floor that looked like they didnt even attempt to clean it up. But other than that, the room cleanliness was ok. I recommend to not rely on the "shuttle service" to the metro. The first day we got there, it was late afternoon so we were going to go check things out downtown. I asked about the shuttle service and the man pointed to van parked in front of the hotel. It is supposed to take and pick up people at a specified time, but I knew this was not going to happen when the guy taking us said that we should call "just in case" when we got back. Very unorganized, not only that but the van only holds 6 people at a time. We decided right then and there that we would pay to park at the metro which was only like 2 miles away. A full day of parking is about 4.75 for all day, but it is worth it. Every morning when we were eating breakfast, we watched as about 20-30 people crowd in the lobby for their turn to ride in the van to the metro which had to make multiple trips to take everyone. A tip for parking at the metro, you have to get the Smartrip card to pay for your parking upon exiting the parking lot. This is the only way to pay to get out. Parking there is free though on the weekends and the card is not required. Also, do not rely on using their internet in the lobby area. I was going to bring my laptop but did not want the hassle and figured I could use their computers. They are extremely slow and when we were there for the short 4 days they were not working for about a day and a half. One evening we wanted towels so that some of us could shower that night, when I asked the front desk girl, she said she did not have a key to housekeeping and that there was nothing she could do about it and that we would have to wait until morning. On the last evening we were there we wanted a trash bag and of course they didnt have access to those either. The morning that we left, as we went to load our luggage in the car, we realized about 4 cars in the parking lot had been broken into. Someone had smashed out their windows and took whatever out of their cars. I was just glad I did not have to deal with this, but one of the cars that got broken into was only 3 away from mine. And to top everything off, the credit card they make you put on file upon check in was charged the cost of our stay when we already paid about a month in advanced on expedia. Overall, the decency of the hotel itself is what would make me go back and it was reasonably priced, but the service was not good. The breakfast I would say is excellent, lots to choose from. Another recommendation is to bring your laptop if you have one and need to use a computer and do not use their Shuttle service, it will only cause frustration. Another thing, it says on their website that they have a restaurant, but it was not even open at all, its like its not in business anymore.

Dear Valued Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write and inform us of the problems that you encountered. I would like to apologize for the problems you experienced with our accommodations and service. It was unfortunate to for all of us to see a car breakage in a safe area like Rockville. It was a very unusual occurence and we are taking steps to prevent it from happening every again.

Also, in regards to our shuttle service, I would like to assure you that these incidents in no way represent how we conduct business. At that time our 13 passenger van was taken for routine maintenance and hotel was using smaller van to accommodate hotel guests. We now have our van back and are up and running normally.

I firmly believe that your experience with our hotel was an isolated incident, and that the high standards of service and dedication to guest satisfaction will be evident in all future stays with us. .

Sincerely,

Liza Bourdeau

After driving for hours, it was wonder ful to be greeted by friendly and smiling staff and to enter a hotel room that really was a non-smoking room and was modern, had a decent bed and was very clean. Compared to other hotels in the area, the BW was a honest price too. Thank you.

We decided to stay a short distance from WA DC while visiting the Smithsonian. The shuttle made regular trips to the Metro. Nice room with frig and microwave. Thin walls, but fortunately the people were quiet at night. Great breakfast. Very friendly staff. Very helpful when calling to ask questions.
