“Lovely hotel. Great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

I was in Rockville working - found this Marriott that is top notch. Great concierge lounge – even had smoked salmon at breakfast! Near many stores and shops. A city Olympic pool is a block away and a Whole Foods Market about ½ mile from the hotel. If you need to go to DC, easy! Right next to Metro. Friendly staff.

I stayed at this local hotel for a 3 day conference and was blown away. The hotel is very nice: good space for drop-off and registration, well-staffed front desk, well-lit lobby, alert and helpfulk bell staff, decent restaurant, but most of all OUTSTANDING SERVICE--everyone seems dedicated to making yours a good stay. It's also less than a 2 block walk to the Metro station and/or McDonalds and other fast food options. Our room rate was less than other budget hotels I have seen in the area (note add-ons below), so you can stay outside of the downtown area to save money but still be anywhere Metro goes in 30-45 minutes (that's better than trying your luck with out traffic).

There are negatives: the parking for our event was free, but regularly it costs $15/day; there is wi-fi, but it also costs around $13/day; one day the maid cleaned/replaced everything, another day (I assume another maid) did not empty any trash, replace any glasses or empty the ice bucket; there are no luggage carts available for loading in luggage, but there is plenty of bell staff. Most noticeable was the attitude projected by everyone you passed in any hallway--pleasant and willing to help! It was so pronounced that the staff attitude really overshadowed the other pros and cons.

We had a great gathering here and I have already recommended it for any future gathering under consideration.

Room Tip: I was one room off the elevator lobby and I had no noise complaint.

This is a good place to stay if you're here for a convention. Otherwise, don't expect "quiet enjoyment" anywhere in the hotel. I'm here during an Irish music festival. Lots of pipes, drums, fiddles and singing in every corner of every lobby. All my colleagues and I wanted was a quiet space to have a drink and unwind. No such luck. I get it. The convention is a big chunk of business but the hotel COULD ask the folks to respect ONE lobby area, no?

Stay here because it's comfortable and convenient but call before booking to ask what conventions are scheduled.

Also, a hotel this size should have more than one small lounge.

I've stayed at this hotel the past three years while attending a expo nearby. There is a subway station near the end of the hotel parking lot and there are resturants, supermarket and a mall all withing walking distance. The rooms and lobby shine with cleanliness. They serve Starbucks coffee right outside the hotel resturant. Only had the breakfast buffet from the resturant but the selection and quality were outstanding. Small indoor pool and nice exercise room with weights, stationary bikes, ellipticlas and treadmills. Highly recommend and will stay here again if in the area.

Room Tip: It's attached to a large convention center so if a large event is ongoing I wouldn't know if...

This was my third visit to bethesda North Marriott each time for a conference. It really is a very good ambasador for the Marriott brand. It is modern and stylish with a real luxury feel to it. I stayed in a standard room for one night then was udgraded to a junior suite for the remainder of my stay. Both rooms were spacious and had the usual comfortable Marriott bed. The standard room on the 10th floor was good but was very hot and even with air conditioning full on and set at 65 did not drop in temperature below 73. Junior suite was even mores spacious much more like a Marriott Suites room with a separate lounge and bedroom but with the addition of a small kitchen - but no microwave?? i ate breakfast in the lounge and that was very good. Also spent some time in the bar (well it was a conference) - service was good and the range of beers was excellent. Probably the only downside to the location is the lack on restaurants in the immediate area surrounding the hotel.

Definitely one of my favourite Marriotts !

Full time business traveler: Only stayed for one night at the Marriott but this was an excellent stay. I give it a definite recommend. Parking is ample, staff was very friendly and helpful, lobby is quite nice, the inside of the hotel is very nice, rooms were cozy, bed was very comfortable. The room is not spacy. The bathroom was very nice in its decor. The Internet was good, Video/audio was good. Work space was good for the small-ish room size. Environmental controls quite good (on a very cold night the room warmed up easy and quickly).
As mentioned I only stayed for one evening but for the short stay I was impressed. It does not get high marks for price-value but was not exorbitant. I give it a definite recommendation and found it the best in that immediate area.

Pluses: 1) Great location next to the metro station; 2) friendly and helpful staff; 3) clean rooms.

So-so: Food and prices in the restaurant; the expected over-priced convention type fare.

Minus: Musty room ventilation. I'm more sensitive than average to that so I tend to notice it. I didn't complain about it because I noticed it as soon as I got off the elevator which indicated that it's a problem in all the rooms. Oddly, and typically, the problem is in the rooms and not the lobby and other common areas. My experience is that it's a frequent problem at Marriott hotels, especially those located where the summers are hot and humid. Maybe it has something to do with the HVAC design they use in all their hotels. I've tried the room merry-go-round in the past to no avail so I don't even try anymore. I avoid Marriotts whenever possible but sometimes, like this visit, I don't have a choice.
