“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

Good hotel. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Hotel staff were friendly. I was here during a large conference, but the hotel seemed to manage things very well.

The hotel is next to the White Flint Metro stop, so you can get here by train from National airport. It takes about 50 minutes. If you come into Dulles airport driving is the only option. A cab is about $60.

There a large number of restaurants a short drive away. If you don't have a car your choices are limited to the hotel and some nearby fast food.

I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here as part of a convention and was very impressed. The food provided for a fundraising dinner was absolutely delicious -- not at all your typical hotel banquet fare! The staff was extremely attentive, making sure that as an organizer we had special treats in our room, that we were satisfied with everything being done, and were available whenever we needed assistance, even well into the night. An additional bonus was the close proximity to the White Flint Metro stop, which made travel around the area quick and convenient. The room itself was beautiful, clean, and well-tended. I would definitely recommend this property for an onsite event -- or just a visit to the area!

I am attending a convention today and tomorrow, 3/25-26. Two weeks ago, I telephoned the hotel to inquire if there was a parking fee. The employee who answered did not know, and told me I had to telephone the head of the convention. I said it was inexcusable that he did have have the answer. I asked to speak to a manager. She said it was part of the convention package. I validated the ticket via the machine sitting on the counter used by the convention. There was no notice that it was only a discount. When I put it in the gate machine, it asked for $10! In addition, the gate was not working properly, so a security guard had to use a key to lift the gate, causing a long line. The gate not working properly wasted about 15 minutes of my life. I told the guard I was not going to pay, because I was told it was part of the convention. He would not telephone the desk. I repeatedly refused to pay. Eventually, they (there were two, at this point) let me pass. Next, I went to the desk to complain. They said it was $12 and that I had to pay! I said I'm here to complain. Management at the desk would not speak to me. I would have had a pleasant day, if not for this. Also, Montgomery County is on the building; they should be clear on what it is.

The hotel is in 3 minutes walk from the metro station that is very convenient if you are on a business trip and don't want to drive. There are very good business facilities there. The rooms are cosy though not very spacious. The staff is friendly and helpfull.
If you want to have some good food, rather than american-style burger stuff, go to TIMPANO restaurant which is in 10 minutes walking distance.
If it is not a kind of "honey-moon trip", I am sure you will enjoy your stay there.

Room Tip: Don't bother, all the rooms are equally good.

My husband had a business trip so we decided to come along after seeing that there was an indoor pool. After getting ready and the kids ready went down to the pool @ 11 am only to find it was closed. It is only open from 6 am- 10am and from 6pm-11pm. Not very kid friendly hours. Not sure why they would offer an indoor pool only during those hours. Will not be staying here again!!!!!!

I stayed here one night for a conference. The hotel is very pretty, clean and modern. The room was a good size, and the bathroom was really nice and spacious. The room had everything you would need, bed was comfortable, but the pillows were odd and a little small. The room was very quet, no problem with hearing outside noises. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable here. Also free parking for Marriot rewards holders.

The bedding found in this hotel is on a par with that found at much more upscale hotels (e.g., Ritz Carlton Pentagon City). The hotel staff are very friendly and the breakfast buffet is excellent (this was included with the room due to the deal struck by the meeting organizers). I'm not sure why anyone would stay here unless on NIH-related business, but it is very convenient to Metro (though a long ride and train change from DCA). It is also within walking distance of some restaurants and the White Flint Mall (there are sidewalks, but it is not pleasant walking along the parkway).
