“Very clean hotel and nice staffs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We spent 4 nights at Even hotel for a quick road trip to Washington DC. We love the fact that it's right across the street from the Metro station. The room is a bit small but clean. No free breakfast was a draw back. I like the lemon water at the lobby. We requested for a coffee machine and was able to get one in our room. It takes about 30 mins ride on the Metro red line to get to down town DC, but it's way better than finding a parking spot down there.

Enjoy my stay in such a clean and friendly atmosphere.
Metro is very close as well as shops and places to eat.
Rooms were very very clean and the gym was nice and big!
Plenty of outlets and USB to charge all you devices plus your significant other.

I would definitely stay again.

What I really liked was the fact that the room was fresh and clean and stylish. The bed was super comfortable, the cork flooring was nice, and the staff were very pleasant at check in. The bathroom was very nice and modern with a great shower and excellent shampoos and lotions that felt great. The room was functional and modern. I actually liked the cork flooring and it seemed super clean. The location was really convenient to LOTS of choices of restaurants and shopping and only about a five minute walk from the metro leading to downtown DC and Bethesda.
I was less impressed by the restaurant and the hotel's obsession with trying to be a fitness and health conscious brand. I felt the offerings in the restaurant were pretty limited and very pricey - many more options in the neighborhood provided better variety and lower prices. The fitness center was ok, but I've seen better (there's a full service fitness center less than two blocks from the hotel) . The in room videos and equipment seemed a bit faddy to me, and I missed having access to a pool or whirlpool or sauna.
I'd certainly consider staying again if the price is right as the location and comfort levels worked well for us.

Room Tip: higher floor is nice and not facing the busy street in front of hotel.

I primarily chose The Even because we were on whirlwind cross country trip visiting law schools with our daughter, and hotels closer to Washington DC are just too $$$! The Even is further out on the Red Line Metro, but the station is only 2 blocks away. This hotel is apparently a growing franchise on the East Coast, and I'd never heard of it. What a pleasant surprise! Clean, healthy, fabulous staff. Relaxed lounge type "dining room" with a fresh healthy menu. (Our vegan daughter was surprised at the vegan and gluten free options.) Nice workout room, and even exercise options in the room! (Yoga mat and blocks, resistance bands and workout videos using that equipment in the room.) Comfortable beds, large bath/shower combo with great shampoo/conditioner amenities. No drawers! The furnishings are streamlined Ikea types, but only a small "closet" and no drawers? (Apparently this location is their "flagship" hotel and customer suggestion/complaints are incorporated into the newer locations.) Would gladly stay there again.

This was my first stay at an EVEN Hotel, and I enjoyed a lot about it: The room design is interesting and fun: cork flooring in a portion of the room; lots of built-in work-out options; nice barn door-style door on the bathroom; day and night blinds. The location is also good - it's within walking distance of DC's Metro system, which I enjoy using. But the parking at this particular location is very challenging: The hotel has floors 5 and 6 of an adjacent parking garage, with no in-building access to same. So, one has to park, take a somewhat distasteful (unkempt; small) garage elevator down to street level, exit the garage and walk a few hundred yards to the hotel entrance. This is doable enough, but off-putting: The prospect of making the trek from garage to hotel entrance at, say, midnight was enough to discourage my travel companion and me (we're both healthy, active, midlife women) from going out for the evening.

Perfect for me, but perhaps not for others! This is a "healthy living" type of hotel. Each room is furnished with some basic workout equipment and the TV offers multiple exercise sessions using the gear in the room. There is also a fitness room off the lobby with aerobic equipment. Small bar and restaurant with healthy options and GREAT staff. Nice smoothies, and just good food available from snacks to entrees. Decor is a bit stark, but imparts a sense of "clean". I still enjoy it. Only downside for me was no coffee maker in the room! Its a bit difficult to locate, the signage is not great and the front door is on the side of the building. And the wifi is free!
I will stay here every time I am in the area!

Finally, my dream hotel has been invented!!! Brand-new concept, brand-new hotel and I'm sure there will be more of these in the near future!
"Even Hotels" - Wellness and Fitness Hotel
Yoga full equipment in the room, personal fitness accessories and videos, organic toiletries, light therapy lamp, healthy smoothies...and much more...
The Metro Station is within walking distance, as well as many stores and restaurants.
I do have few suggestions for improvements. The beds, pillows, linens were so incredibly comfortable but the sleep quality was not that great due to the outside noise. In the room next to ours there was a dog that barked every night until 2 am and the kids who stayed in the same room were running on the hallways, slamming the doors also until the same time, after midnight. I know it is not the hotel's responsibility, it is more about manners and respect for other people, but I am not quite sure the pet-friendly policy resonates well with wellness in this case.
Regarding the noise of slamming doors, maybe, as a suggestion, there can be a written sign on the door to use the actual handle when closing it...or something like that. People sleep at different hours :)

Room Tip: Don't choose a room near the elevators
