“We didn't have a great experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

I went there with family and friends (total 6 people) because of the good critics we had read. Unfortunately the day and the time We chose were not the best to have a nice dinner. We went on Sunday May 26th, when Monday 27th was not a working day (Memorial Day). We booked a table for 8,30 PM yet at 9.30 PM they decided to close and rush us to end our meal and order desserts while still finishing the entrée. They even brought the dessert to our table before we had finished our main dish. Then they hurried themselves to bring the bill and a second after we signed it they picked it up and the game was over. In sum, a few minutes before 10 PM all the people were already cleaning the restaurant, just behind us. We decided to leave and go somewhere else to have a coffee and most importantly to finally relax ourselves.
Why did they take a reservation at 8.30 PM if they had planned to leave in a rush as soon as the kitchen was officially closed?
Other than that and according to what we saw in the first minutes after arriving at Cava, when the restaurant was still full of people, it is a noisy place and not too big. Food was good, decoration too and so it was the service when we had to choose our menu. I also think there was not bad intention but that night, at least, the restaurant lacked a good management.

“tasty food, but very cramped, uncomfortable, and overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

If all you care about is the quality of the food, then you will probably be satisfied. This is Greek food with a difference. All the dishes we ordered were better than average. But this is not a pleasant place to eat. Too many small tables are crowded into too small a space. The tables next to us were less than a foot apart. We could not help but bump the tables coming and going. The wood chairs with next to no padding are very hard and uncomfortable. This is a noisy restaurant. We gave up on trying to have a conversation. There is nothing at all pleasant about eating here. The service struggles to keep up with the crowd. When my first two choices of main dish were no longer available, I asked for a minute to decide on an alternative choice. My waitress did not return for 10 minutes. Our appetizers arrived before I even was able to place an order for my entree. Needless to say, there was quite a lapse between when we finished the appetizers and when the entree arrived. Often we ran out of water and had to wait for our glasses to be refilled. The prices are high. Fried cheese (saganaki) was $10. Two small skewers of lamb souvlaki was $17. I could go on. In a more comfortable environment I might have been more tolerant of the prices, but this was just adding insult to injury. I won't be back.

“DO go back to Rockville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

This was my second time at Cava and it just gets better every time. We had nearly everything on the menu. The Saganaki is a crowd favorite, but it still scares people when they light it. Our table favorite this night was the Braised Beef. It is served over fries and it is absolutely delightful. The spicy mussles were very good and lamb chops were very well received. The food is served rapid fire and we devoured each dish as it hit the table. The drink selections are adequate, but disappointed by no draft beer. “Awesome food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

Been to this restaurant several times and this most recent visit didn't disappoint. The food is really terrific, and it's worth the expense and a little extra noise, absolutely! The service tends to be very good and after living in this area for fourteen years, it's definitely in my top five favorite restaurant list (and we eat out a lot!).
