The MB inn was a wonderful place to stay, the room was impeccably clean. The balcony offered a glorious view of the bay. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Belgian waffles for breakfast with fresh fruit and whipped cream, what more could you ask for?

The Moonlight Bay Inn has an incredible view of the Chesapeake Bay. Most of the rooms are spacious and very nice. Our interactions with the Inn's manager were very cordial and professional. However, it was apparent that the owners of this Inn try to create an unscale experience, but hospitality isn't in their nature. Here are some little details that weren't right: The verticle blinds in our room were missing three vanes. The water wasn't turned on for the boat dock toilets. The bicycles provided for guests were poorly maintained as was the outdoor furniture. The afternoon "tea" included cookies from a box and cheeze puffs. This inn could use more attention to detail.

If you are looking for a wonderful, relaxing and unpretentious stay at a Bed and Breakfast look no further than Moonlight Bay Inn.

The drive in: Driving in to Rock Hall is a delight in itself. You will go through numerous quaint shore towns. All with a Main Street that offers numerous shops and small cafes for a casual stroll. Beautiful restored homes. Fields and working farms line the roads.

Arriving at the Inn: Although we arrived fairly late (after 8 pm) Dottie and Bob greeted us with a warm smile and delightful conversation. The front parlor is original to the house and full of quaint touches. Each time I entered the parlor I found something new.

The rooms: I recommend the “West Wing”. All rooms have a view of the water and a balcony. We stayed in room #8 The Moon Glow and I loved it. It is a corner room with an unobstructed view of the Bay, the docks and the Point. In the distance the Bay Bridge is visible and on a clear night you can see the lights of Annapolis. The wing has its own parlor with a fireplace and large screen TV. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub for one which was a delight to soak in. Each room also has its own pair of binoculars for bird/boat watching. We spent hours on the balcony (each has an Adirondack chair and lounger) just watching the boats come and go and enjoying the flocks of geese overhead. There was numerous Osprey nesting in the area. In the evening we could hear the waves lapping against the shore.

The grounds: Beautiful. There is a screened gazebo with a table and chairs also equipped with electricity for those who just can’t put down their laptops. There are two covered gliders that seat four. A hammock large enough for two. The porch has numerous swings and rockers.

The marina: Although we had no need for the facilities there are two docks with slips for 50 boats. All have individual water/electricity. There are also 6 slips with lifts.

The Food: Excellent. Bob is the cook and each day brought a different specialty. Terry is the server/all around helper and she greeted everyone with a smile and a laugh to start the day. Fresh fruit to start, hot muffins (Terry will ensure you do not get the same kind of muffin each morning!) that were out of this world. Day one we had blueberry muffins and French toast stuffed with apple butter and cream cheese with a side of bacon. Bob is the first innkeeper to ever insist we all have seconds! Most of us were too full! Day two corn muffins with Belgian waffles lightly dusted with powdered sugar and a generous dollop of cream. The waffle filled the plate!

Things to do: The weather was very uncooperative for us so we were unable to do any of the things we had originally planned for outdoors. There are kayak tours of the bay and the Sultana, which is a teaching schooner, offers day sails for a very reasonable cost. The Inn has bikes for your use and the town is just chock full of things to see. Chestertown is a very short drive and again had numerous things to see and do.

Where to eat: I highly recommend Waterman’s Crab House. We had a late dinner of Friday night and the food was great. They offer live music on the deck spring through fall but unfortunately the weather prevented that during our trip. We decided to head over there Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and had a wonderful time. Carol the bartender and Ira the Asst. Manager and our server the night before remembered us and we were treated like locals. It was a delightful afternoon with great food and good conversation. Dinner at Bay Wolf: food was excellent but the atmosphere was very LOUD.

All in all you can not go wrong with Rock Hall and the Moonlight Bay Inn.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Moonlight Bay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was very clean with a wonderfully comfortable king size bed with gorgeous views of the Chesepeake Bay. They have a variety of places to sit and just look out over the Bay. Delicious breakfasts too. Rock Hall is a very laid back place, so don't go there if you're looking for excitement. Moonlight Bay is just a wonderful place to get away from it all. We will definitely return.
