“Best vineyard in Maryland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

I recently had my wedding here and can not say enough about the Running Hare Vineyard. Barb and her staff are fantastic to work with! The location is breathtaking and our guests are still talking about how gorgeous it was. I would recommend this venue to any bride looking for an outdoor wedding. It was picture perfect!

“Local Flavor & Wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Running Hare wines may not be Napa-worthy, but they are getting close. We have been to the winery several times for tastings and music and every time, it seems like the wines are getting better and better. The whites are really good and great for summer picnics. But the best is visiting the vineyard in the evening when they have music. It's a lovely way to spend a cool evening, listening to good music, enjoying a picnic (which is easy to put together from Nick's Market in Prince Frederick) and great friends. Make an evening of it, buy a few bottles of wine to sip, and take an evening off.

“Perfect weekend afternoon destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

If you find yourself without plans on a weekend, pack a picnic and head on out here. The outdoor tasting room provides gorgeous views of the vineyards and Tuscan-style reception hall, and they have live music every weekend. There are plenty of tables with umbrellas for you to sit and relax with your food and a glass of wine. It's only $5 for a tasting (and you get to keep the glass).

“Serene & Picturesque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Running Hare Vineyard is tucked away in the rolling knolls of Calvert County. Running Hare offers a taste of Tuscany in rural Southern Maryland! The "Tuscan Reception Villa" looks like it was air-lifted directly from Italy and set down at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyards...breathtaking!

“Lovely venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

It's a long and winding road to get to the winery, but keep going, it's worth the trip. A large open air building is where the wine tastings are held, surrounded by many tables with colorful umbrellas. There is plenty of parking, but it's back behind the trees (out of sight) so you might want to drop off those with mobility challenges right by the open air building, it would be easy to do that. Everyone had brought picnics; they don't sell any food here, just wine. And no sodas or tea either, so your DD will need to bring their own non-alcoholic beverages. Port-a-potty is fine, that was a bit of a surprise, though. You can have a picnic surrounded by lovely vines, beautiful trees, the winery building itself (I hear it can be rented out for special occasions; we didn't go up there this trip. I not expert enough to comment on the wine itself; I'll leave that for others.
