I actually ate here with my wife twice in the last month. This article deals primarily with my most recent visit, but incorporates one comment from my visit about a month ago. I like the restaurant, especially their ambience and menu selection. However, on both visits, I noticed that the beef in the burgers lacked the flavor that good burgers are supposed to have. In other words, they were nearly flavorless. The reason could be that they contained little or no fat, which is where most burgers' flavor comes from. They advertise that they serve Angus beef. Perhaps, Angus beef is supposed to lack flavor. Im not sure.
Anyway, our server was very pleasant, but she had a knack for not being available when we needed her. She spent most of her time at a bar in another corner of the restaurant, chatting with other employees. When our food arrived, which included french fries and onion rings, my wife got the wrong kind of sandwich. By the time the right sandwich arrived (about 8 or 10 minutes later), the fries and onion rings were cold. An alert server would have offered to bring a new order, but not this server. I also had to ask another passing server for a drink refill. There was no manager in sight to complain to.
The table next to us had been cleared off before we arrived, but there was trash and silverware under that table. Where was the manager?
The fries and onion rings were very good, as usual, but they are not nearly as good when eaten at room temperature. The burgers were cooked about right.
Considering that our server was only servicing 2 or 3 tables, she should have done a much better job. Its a shame that no manager was around to supervise the help.
We wont be going back there again. This place has the makings af a good informal restaurant, but I dont see it happening.
