“Acceptable Room/Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I have stayed at the Flagship twice, once on the first floor and once on the second floor. Both rooms were clean, but as advertised on their website, the upper-level rooms have been remodeled and are newer. I chose this hotel for a number of reasons. First, although it is on 26th street, it is still on the boardwalk, and it has great access to the beach. Second, it has one of the largest outdoor pools on the boardwalk, but also has an indoor pool and indoor hot tub for rainy days. A pool table and video arcade are available in the second-floor lobby. Third, every room has a view of the ocean, some views are better than others, but you can definitely see the beach. Be prepared: the balconies are open; there isn't a solid wall between balconies so your next door neighbor might be drinking his morning coffee within view. Finally, although it's not really advertised, the hotel has a changing room near the indoor pool. You can arrive before check-in, change and go to the beach until your room is ready. In addition, as long as you are out of your room by check out, you can still park in the hotel lot and leave later that day. The price was reasonable for being an ocean front property. . .on the boardwalk. If being on the boardwalk isn't an issue for you and you want a fancier room, check out hotels above 27th street.

Room Tip: Select a room on the second or third floor. They are newer and a little nicer. Also call the hotel...

I am currently staying in the hotel as I write this review. The room from hell. Old, old, old. Carpet is disgusting and stained. Im concerned about taking my shoes off. The lamp is broken as well as the rod to close the curtain. The balcony has bars up the side and no windows to open to get the smell out. I expressed my concerns to the staff about the issues but was told there was no other room due to being sold out. They would line me up at the Hilton for the weekend at 500 a night. Wish I could afford it. Have not had my room tended to today probably due to my complaining yesterday. Leaving early and cutting vacation short. Oh and t.v. is not working.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel. Maybe the holiday or confort inn. Those hotels look nice from the boardwalk.

Me and my wife, 2 teenagers, older daughter, and her 1 year old recently stayed here. We were greeted by a very attentive staff at the front desk who took time to assist us with our luggage to our room. Rooms were very nice and kitchenette well stocked with supplies (pots, pans, etc.) Pool (both indoor and outdoor) were nice and my teenage kids enjoyed them both. Of course, location right on the beach was great - no long walks which was good as we had our 1 year old grandson with us. We would absolutely consider staying there again. Only small negative was the AC in each room - the glass door to balcony has to be closed for it to operate - took us a day to figure that out - should have instructions posted somewhere.

When one first enters the premises, it is easy visible that the hotel is in need of a facelift. I went with my 70 year old mom who has to use a cane, but is otherwise in great health. My sister and I had tocarry everything on the one rickety elevator to the second floor up a few stairs down again down along hallway down another few stairs down a hallway turn a corner to anothetanother hallway to get to our disgusting room. Sheets were not washed in bleach, they were gray. Rug was so dirty I wouldn't let my dog lay on it. Matresses felt like they were thrown off of a highway. Springs in your back and collapsing in the center. Bathroom was a green from the 1940's. Towels and washcloths were scarce and thin as tissue paper. Maids didn't even throw lysol in toilet daily. Bed spreads smelled. Wouldn't want them near your face. Pillows were so bad we all got stiff necks. Sleeping was hard to do because of the filth, pillows and matresses. Porch chairs are antiquated and dirty as well. Customer service was OK. PARKING isn't available close enough to hotel. Don't waste your hard earned$$$$!!!! STAY AWAY.

if you are looking for a decent priced hotel on the boardwalk I highly recommend... it is a little out of date but we can't complain.... indoor/outdoor pool. hot tub, game room, playground and pool bar! We had a great time and the employees have all been super friendly and helpful! definitely recommend if you are on a budget and aren't looking for some fancy hotel! We all enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: we did courtyard view but it sill faced the ocean. Looked over the playground/outdoor pool out to t...

We stayed here for one night and that was enough. As another reviewer mentioned, there are several parking lots. We were fortunate to get a spot in the closest lot but the fact that the other lots are spaced out and not close by is annoying and doesn't make much sense for people traveling with luggage, children, etc. The location is good, right on the beach. The boardwalk is accessible from the hotel though the rides and games are at the other end of the boardwalk which is a long walk or a short ride. There are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby which, again, makes the location appealing. The hotel itself is dated. There is a game room on the 2nd floor which is antiquated but might appeal to very young children and there are many young children here. The walls are paper thin and we could hear our next door neighbors loud and clear well into the night. There is one elevator which usually wasn't busy or full and there were stairs as a quicker alternative. The "heated" pool was cold and the hot tub was usually full of children. Sometimes there were towels available, sometimes there weren't. I recommend bringing your own just to be safe. The outdoor pool is nice though we didn't use it. The front desk staff is friendly though the rest of the staff not so much. The "breakfast" consists of bananas, apples, and nectarines as well as coffee. This place was good for a last minute, overnight stay but for an extended vacation this probably wouldn't be my first choice.

For this years OC trip, my husband had several different requests regarding lodging. A: must be on the boardwalk, B: must have a pool, C: must have an indoor pool, D: must be reasonably priced and my own request that it must be an efficiency. We found that the Flagship Oceanfront met all our needs. It was clean, the staff were courteous, had the indoor & outdoor pools we were looking for; a beautiful view of the beach; right on the boardwalk. And steps away from the tram station. A bonus of an exercise room and tanning bed! Our own effeciency, which featured a seperate room with a queen size bed in addition to the sofabed (which our daughter slept on very comfortably) was quite comfortable and we had a walk in closet! My only complaint was that the electrical plugs left much to be desired whether in a bad place or not just working, and that the refrigerator should be larger. Yes, there are alot of stairs, but that wasn't a big deal. During our last night there, one of the industrial dryers caught fire during the night. The fire alarm sounded and the building was evacuated, however, the fire marshall deemed it was safe to return to our rooms. The staff was very efficient in keeping us updated. We were very happy with our accomodations. Btw--the Riptide Bar & Grill was terrific.

Room Tip: Make sure you check the hotel website to view room choices. They are pretty accurate.
