“Basic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

This is an older hotel, family owned and operated. They provide basic accomodations at a fair price. One nice thing, every room has tempur Pedicure mattresses. Xlnt nights sleep. They include mini gold, a pool and in the summer a pirate ship for water battles. It's good hotel and very family oriented, the staff are responsive to problems ( like noisy people next door)

Thank you for your honest comments. We are a good clean family run hotel. Not your top tier resort but as you stated a nice, affordable basic property with a kick (amenities) that hopefully exceeds our guests needs and expectations. Hope to see you again!

The location is great! Just over the Rte 50 bridge and directly across from Outlet shopping. The lobby and rooms were very clean. The staff was more than friendly and helpful. Saturday movie night was great! They have a huge room w/ lots of oversized couches and chairs. They even have popcorn (old fashioned maker..yum!) to go w/ the movie! We enjoyed watching it curled up by the huge fireplace. The indoor waterpark is a huge benefit when traveling w/ kids. They loved it! The front desk allowed us to tour a cottage. Perfect for a small family. Looking forward to returning! Thanks Franics Scott Key for a great stay!

Naturally this area is packed during the VW car show but this hotel was a slight exception. Far enough away from the cars cruising the strip, no parties but very thin walls. Very nice staff allowed early check in and informed me of all seasonal amenities including the very nice pool despite the lack of depth. Overall: very nice and worth every penny.

Over the bridge from Ocean City Maryland. Rooms clean & roomy.
The restraunt in the hotel is good but not open for late nite snacks.
There is a shopping center across Thd street.
If u r going to the boardwalk use the hotel's shuttle. Parking near the boardwalk is hard.
If u buy a ride pass from the hotel, it is only good for 1 pier on the boardwalk & the other pier is further down on Ocean Drive ( the main road).

I've been coming to Maryland every summer for about 25 years. Although I have stayed in many places the Francis Scott Key Family Resort is my favorite. We have three children spread out in age and there is plenty to do for everyone. The location is convenient for numerous daily adventures. My sons love the shuttle to the boardwalk and my daughter loves to take a ride to the Salisbury Zoo. We enjoy going into Berlin or maybe taking a ride after dinner to see the ponies. It's nice having the outlets right across the way too. Frontier Town is one of my daughters favorite places and my husband loves the Greene Turtle. Even if we just stay on the premises we always have a great time. The outdoor pool is great and the pirate slide area is so nice for small children. We also enjoy the indoor pool and snack area. We loved that you had food this year. Our experience has always been that the rooms are kept well and very clean. Anytime we've needed anything the front desk is always polite and helpful. We always look forward to coming back!
Marie R.

Room Tip: Second floor in the corner.

My family took our first trip to OC in late August and after a long process of looking for a place to stay, we ended up here at FSK. All the positives, the indoor pool and bar, very nice and the hot tub for myself was a bonus. The little water slide is pretty cool as it's just enough for kids to enjoy. The outdoor pool area looked fine and the pirate ship was wonderful. The diner is a great place to eat, food is great and the staff are the same. Now the min goldf course is a nice set up however the greens are torn a bit which affects the ball at times. Definitely needs to be replaced but the layout of the course is good. My room in the Carolina building second floor was good. People could have issues with the beds. I loved the bed, my wife did not and had some back issues for a day but was quickly healed. The grounds look old which is i'm sure is part of the look but at times it could look a little outdated. Overall, very ni8ce place to stay. Needs the continued updates, but a great place to stay if they keep it up to par and beyond.

Thank you for your comments! We are and will always be a work in progress and we appreciate the acknowledgement. The Tempurpedic beds are wonderful for most guests and some even purchase one after staying with us. Many of our amenities go through a winter spring rehab such as the indoor pool and outdoor pools are drained issues fixed and repainted. The same with the putt putt as we will be replacing the greens and adding lights that are elevated vs the current ground level whch are continually damanged (not on purpose) by golf swings. That along with room redo's and some exterior upgrades are all in the works!

Hope to see your family again soon!

We stayed here on the weekend prior to July 4th and to say the least we were very disappointed. We have been at the FSK numerous times in the past and we understand what to expect. This time was so much different, for the first time we stayed in one of the "NEWLY REMOLDELED FOR 2012 RANCH ROOMS", if you call a coat of paint, and very old dirty fixtures newly remodeled, then you would be happy here. Upon arrival our room was musty, the door when closed had gaps all around it, numerous screw holes and two sided tape stuck all over, the room was just run down. Then we noticed ants crawling all over our dresser, tv and then on the nightstand. We called the front desk, within minutes someone arrived and sprayed ant killer all over the room. They moved the night stand and found an infinite number of ants under it eating candy that was laying there. They cleaned it up, and just in case left us the can of ant killer if we needed it again of which we needed it continuously. The room was also very noisy due to a construction project right outside our window that went on all weekend. The bathroom had a little pedestal sink, no counter space, no where to put anything and it was very small, I had to go outside to change my mind. The sink and shower had old worn out faucets and a couple of ants too. As for the beds, I do not know what size they are, but they sure are small and close together.

Like I said we stayed here in the past and understand that it is a old property, that is out of date, and not very fancy, but this was way beyond that. We will not stay here again, no need to put up with the accommodations.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

I have tried contacting this guest and I am hoping to be able to speak directly with him. As a guest who has stayed with us before it is off putting to have a negative review. All of the ranch style rooms did receive new carpet, furniture, lighting, artwork and bedding. The bathrooms did also receive touch ups but not complete a complete rehaul. No excuse for a pest contil issue but they do at times happen which we realize is an inconvenience for our guests. The contruction next door was an issue at times for our guests and we did reach out to the contruction team to ask them to start their day after 8am which they did comply. It can be challenging as we do not own or control that property. Many of our guests choose the ranch style rooms because they tend to be very quiet and they are only first floor but we do have several room types to choose from. I am hoping to gain more insight from this guest and hope that we can exceed their expectations in the future.

Sincerely
Annemarie Dickerson
