We decided to attend the Winterfest of Lights with our mentally handicapped grandson. They were absolutely beautiful and worth the entire 2-day trip. We chose to stay at Howard Johnson because we especially like the location and we had stayed there on a previous vacation.
We were very disappointed that we couldn't use the "heated" pool and spa as the boiler had broken that week and was scheduled to be repaired the day before we left for home.
Our other issue was the location of our room (Room 302) which was located directly above the bistro. There was no problem on Thursday evening as the bistro didn't open until Friday evening. The smell from the brick oven pizza permeated up through our room and prevented us from getting to sleep for quite some time. The smell was so strong, it almost made us sick. We were thinking of requesting another room, however, it would have been very inconvenient to repack everything when we were actually leaving the next morning. So we endured the smell and finally fell asleep after about 3 to 4 hours.
If we stay there in the future, we will request a room in another location.
