Recently on a business trip to Oakland Md I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful B&B. This house is a by far a must see & stay for anyone who travels to this area. Should you be able to stay one night or a few, you will not be disappointed!!! John & Brenda are truly a remarkable, enjoyable couple. Breakfast was superb, with all the fixings to go along with it. I will be back next year and without a doubt, have another "little piece of home"

We had a wonderful weekend at Wisp; skiing the trails during the day and staying the weekend at the Oak and Apple B&B. The home is beautiful and John and Brenda are the perfect hosts. Breakfast was delicious and enough to practically skip lunch, even while skiing all day. Local cheese and meats used for the breakfast and the waffles, omelets, stewed apples, juices, and fresh bread were plentiful and tasty. They had great recommendations for dinner and everyone in town seems to know them. The inn is very comfortable and John and Brenda were attentive to our every need. On the trip back to Arlington, we found ourselves planning our next visit to Oakland and stay at the Oak and Apple!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Dixon room and it was quiet; could close curtains and not notice the early sun (wer...

We had a delightful anniversary weekend at The Oak and Apple B&B. The victorian house sits back on a beautiful treed lot and street. I loved the sound of church bells in the evening breeze. The house and our rooms were comfortable, cozy and well appointed. Brenda and John were knowledgeable hosts recommending weekend activities, especially the stained glass artisit, and special places to eat. They shared our passion for Civil War history and medical practices (John is an expert), and period literature. They are both expert cooks and breakfast was wonderful. The crustless quiche is excellent and they were more than happy to share the recipe. We hope to go back in the winter for cross country skiing.

My husband and I felt at home the minute we walked in the door! In fact, I felt like I was visiting with old friends just from the emails and phone calls to confirm our reservation. John and Brenda have done everything right, from the food to the rooms. The house is beautifully decorated and sits among other gorgeous homes, close to fine dining and shopping. Breakfast was amazing - Brenda even shared her recipes with us - and served to accommodate our schedule for the rest of the day. We have already put our names on a waiting list (yes - they are so popular that folks are willing to wait to make a return visit!) for the fall. Thanks for a wonderful time and we can hardly wait to visit again!

John and Brenda know the real meaning of hospitality. We felt almost like family in our own home. It is apparent that this is simple not just a "business" to them but also a joy. From the detailed welcome to the beautiful and DELICIOUS breakfast everything surpassed our expectations.

The location is ideal for the cost and it was worth every penny! The recommendations were great too, good selections of local interest.

All in all, a wonderful weekend trip!!

  • Liked — I liked how relaxing it was and waking up to the fabulous breakfast!
  • Disliked — we were told in advance but we didn't have an attached bathroom, but we didn't share w/ any other guests either.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this beautiful Victorian B&B in Oakland, Maryland following a whitewater rafting trip we took on the nearby Upper Youghiogheny River and had a very nice experience. The room was comfortable and clean, and aside from a volunteer fire call in the middle of the night, very quiet. Innkeepers John and Brenda were both friendly and helpful, and breakfast was excellent - served on their garden porch off the side of the house. The house itself is a marvelous Victorian that has been completely restored and is just beautiful. The neighborhood is quiet and a block or two off of the main street in Oakland. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Liked — Quiet, comfortable, clean. Not too far from Deep Creek attractions.
  • Disliked — Volunteer Fire call in the middle of the night.
