“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

It was beautiful, and swimming in the water by the waterfall was a lot of fun! For $5 a person (if you're out of state), it's a great price! Unfortunately storms like Sandy really took a toll on the trees, looked sad compared to last year. But still breathtaking and worth seeing!

“Guided Tour with Park Rangers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This mountain park is located in Western Maryland, Deep Creek Lake area, and contains some of Maryland's most breathtaking scenery. We took the loop hike with the park rangers that offered a narrative hike through the hemlock forest on a trail that took us on Upper and Lower Swallow Falls ending at Muddy Creek Falls.

If you like hiking, it is worth the 1-1/2 easy trail trekking.

Entrance fee at the park gate.

“Beautil and Relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Swallow Falls State Park is a breathtaking respite from the chaos of everyday life. The four waterfalls located in the steep cavern are places to pause and reflect as your ears are surrounded by the cascading water tumbling over the rock edges. The sound blocks out the world around you and permits you to take time to focus on what really matters. The scenery is outstanding and the whitewater kayaking is extraordinary. Great campground. The "sister" park - Herrington Manor - is very much the opposite but yet serene in its own way. With a lake great for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing, it offers a bit more to do than Swallow Falls. None the less, take the day away from the hustle of life and enjoy the peace.

“A nice walk to four scenic waterfalls; access to Herrington Manor included”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Swallow Falls is a beautiful little park that has a short walking path that guides you to four waterfalls. I don't think we'd spend more than a few hours there though.

It was $5 for each of us to get in and our tickets were valid at Herrington Manor Park which was a few miles away. We really enjoyed Herrington Manor as it had a nice lakeside beach as well as paddle boats you could rent by the hour. This lake was a great place to swim as it is not as busy as Deep Creek Lake.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Definitely worth the 1-1/4 mile hike to see 4(!) splendid waterfalls. We started with Tolliver Falls first, then went on to Upper and Lower Swallow Falls, finishing with Muddy Creek Falls. Worth the short drive to see if you're in the Deep Creek or Oakland area.
