I made a reservation to stay here this past weekend with my husband and our two little dogs. We were quoted a rate of $99, with a pet fee of $20 for the night. I was looking forward to staying there, since we had stayed there many years ago and really loved the place. (They had stopped allowing pets for a while, and recently began allowing pets again.) When we arrived to check-in, I was told that the pet fee was $50 for the night ($25 per pet, per night). I told them that this was not what I was quoted on the phone, but they just said "I'm sorry. That's what it is." I found it outrageous that it would cost us half of the regular room rate to have our pets stay at this motel so I cancelled the reservation. It was upsetting to find this out after traveling there, and even more upsetting to have to find another place to stay at this point. How these motels can justify such a steep fee is beyond me. As someone who travels with pets, I am mindful of how important it is to keep my pets well-groomed, quiet and to clean up after them in the area where they are walked when we travel. I guess a few bad apples have spoiled it for the rest of us, at least at this place. Unfortunately this motel has lost a return customer. But I really don't get the sense that they care.
