This review is written by a business traveler who frequents Marriot and Hilton-chain hotels. This review is based on a 2-night stay in October 2007.

This hotel far exceeeds the typical TownePlace Suites hotel (which is usually at the bottom of the Marriott line of hotels), and in fact, I would choose this over most full-Marriotts. I wish my own home looked like this - I am ready to move into this hotel! :)

This review is based on a night stay in a 1-bedroom suite and a night stay in a 2-bedroom suite.

Pros:
- brand new hotel (built in April 2007).
- great attention to details around the facility: complimentary breakfasts utilize durable, expensive, dispoable cutlery and plates and cups. Rooms feature solid, expensive / upscale doors, mid-high-end lever door handles, great workmanship / finish, great choices of tile in the entry and bathrooms, same to be said for marble countertops in the kitchenettes and bathrooms, shaker-style cabinets, stanless-steel-accented appliances, countertop cooking ranges (larger suites have apartment-sized stoves), etc.
- 40" LG LCD TVs with satilite channels in every living room and bedroom.
- spacious bathrooms with expensive panasonic light / fans.
- great mirrors, lighting, tables, and drawers.
- earth tone / neutral colour schemes; everything tastefully decorated.
- wired (100 Mbs high and super-high speeds available) and 56 Mbs wireless Internet.
- decent complimentary continental breakfast.
- nice evening receptions (i.e. lite dinners and desserts) for guests.
- classy chess and checker sets (made of glass?) built into tables in the front lobby lounge.
- great service from the staff.

Opportunities for improvement:
- elevators are so to close and move (but at least are quiet).
- floors are not as noise-proof as one woudl like (easy to hear tenents in floors above).

We had two nights overlay in BWI on the way in and out of NYC, due to late arrival on early departure. So we nedded a simple, clean, nice and freindly place to stay close to BWI.

The area around BWI is almost a showcase in every imaginable chain hotel and brand on the planet; we tend to go with Marriott brand hotels for some reason and having never stayed in a Townplace Suite by Marriott before, we opted for that one.

I think the hotel is fairly new, as all the new "ammeneties and designs" were incorporated in this property and the whole place also looked spanking new. As always with Marriott (and Hilton, Starwood, Hyatt etc.) service was smooth, rooms, grounds etc., was extremely clean and well kept, the self service breakfast was well presented and posed a good variety.

As mentioned; we could probably have stayed in any other hotel in the area with the same result; but our stay at this property was highly enhanced by very freindly staff e.g. upon check inn was asked regarding next day Amtrak to NYC and promptly the front office gave complete directions all the way to the hotel in NYC, right down to the correct subway exit - turned out the guy used to live in NYC and knew the hotel where we would be staying :-)

Anyways, a nice and comfortable stay, next time in BWI we will stay there again. BTW Ruby Tuesday is within 5 min. walking.

“Surprisingly great comfortable stay!”

TownePlace Suites Baltimore BWI Airport

Was in Baltimore for the Virgin Music Festival and had to book a hotel last-minute. Most affordable places were sold out, but surprisingly this place was not. And it was only $89 for a Saturday night! Our room had a 1 queen bed, kitchen, living area, breakfast, flat screen TV with open ports for ipod, A-V jacks, pc video in, free internet and a free shuttle to airport if you need it. Our room was brand-spankin' new, everything clean and best of all, no smells! Bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. Although, maybe being out in the sun all day long rockin' out had something to do with it too. The staff at the desk were nice and helpful. The outdoor pool looked quite clean and long enough for laps. If I needed to come back to Baltimore, I would definitely recommend this place!

“New and very nice place”

TownePlace Suites Baltimore BWI Airport

New (and still smells like it) Marriott off 295 in hotel row and very close to BWI. Very clean, unused, nice bathroom, even our small suite had good size kitchen (if you feel like cooking) with large fridge / freezer, dishwasher and all the pots and pans you may need. Nice flat screen TV with some HD programming, but unfortunately during our stay half the HD channels were off. Friendly and helpful staff. The outdoor pool seem very popular, especially with the kids.
There are just couple of restaurants in the walking distance, but better selection is found at Arundel Mills about 5 minutes way.

Couple of issues: everybody that stays in this place has to sign “no party or noise” ordinance sheet. If one is found to be too disruptive the management can evict you from the hotel after one warning. Great, but why is one needed? Is there an issue, we wondered? First time this has happened, but place was very quiet.
Also the breakfast is strictly carb based: donuts, waffles, the usual selection of juices, cereals and breads. No protein, bar yogurt, in sight. Not bad, but slightly disappointing.

Still, we enjoyed our stay and when in the area may stay here again.

“Great Choice Near BWI - Much Nicer Than Expected”

I needed a hotel room near BWI at the last minute, checked online, and this place was the cheapest. As a Marriott Platinum Guest, I avoid Town Place Suites when possible. (You only get half points and this is Marriott's lowest-end moniker.) This hotel was not your average TPS. This place was awesome.

It had just opened earlier in the week. The front desk people told me I would be the first to stay in the room. What was great: The bedding was high quality - mattress, linens, and pillows were very top-of-the-line; the bathroom was conveniently laid out; the towels were full and fluffy; the flat screen TV was very high-end; the workspace was comfortable and had connections for every computer/device imaginable, and I love when the fitness room has all new equipment. What was greatest: the walk-through closet that opened to both the room and the bathroom. I want one in my house!

Glitches: The hotel was new, and the people that work there are learning as they go. They were all nice, but things didn't flow as effortlessly as they would have in a hotel that works like a well oiled machine. There were a few noticeable things - they keep the front door locked a night, but nobody knew how to open it when I got there after midnight, the lobby computer was not connecting to the internet properly.

Overall: if you need a hotel near BWI, this place rocks!

    • Disliked — Still working out some glitches, but nothing major.
