I've driven by the Sakura Japanese Steak and Seafood House a number of times. Today, I decided to try it out.
The restaurant is located on Baltimore Avenue (MD Route 1) next to the Academy Ford Dealership. It has decent parking and is easy to get to.
When I walked into the restaurant, I was promptly greeted and taken to a table surrounding a grill. A waitress promptly showed up and asked if I'd like something to drink. I decided to go with a ginger ale. My soft drink cost $1.95 and came with unlimited refills.
After perusing the menu, I decided to splurge and treated myself to their lobster entree. The restaurant includes the choice of one appetizer, a bowl of soup, a salad and the choice of steamed or fried rice. The lobster entree comes with 2 lobster tails which they prepare in front of you.
My shrimp flambe appetizer was decent though I wish I'd received more shrimp. I found the soup to be outstanding. I can't tell you what kind it was but, it was great soup. The salad was decent and had some unknown kind of dressing on it. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were superbly cooked and the rice had great flavor. Lastly, my lobster was nicely cooked as well.
Overall, the meal was fantastic. I found our waitress to be great and our chef was masterful and funny. He can juggle spatulas and cooking forks with the best of them.
This is one restaurant I'd definitely recommend. I plan to go back myself and take friends here. The restaurant is part of a chain that is located throughout Maryland with a couple locations in Virginia as well. If you like Japanese food, you should definitely give them a try. Bon Appetit!
