D.C.

I stayed at this hotel in March of 2008. The service was what you would expect from a hotel of their reputation, however, this hotel, despite being in a fairly rough neighborhood, does not deem it necessary to have a camera covering all the parking lots, or even to hire a security guard to patrol the premises or something. Any measure to dissuade potential thieves. My car got broken into on a Saturday evening, with the sun still out. If you take a look at the pictures, you will notice that i am parked directly in front of the hotel...... and activated the alarm on my car. Yet, a thief was still able to smash my window, and with the alarm obviously blaring, reach into the car to grab MY gps device and my ipod (concealed in console)!!!!!!!!! The hotel obviously did not assume responsibility for this robbery and did not even think to waive the fee I paid to stay with them for two nights. Their bright idea was to offer me a package that would let me stay at a best western hotel. After this occurence, I would not be caught dead in another best western, and I would advice potential patrons of this hotel to heed the warning of this post.

We stayed at this hotel while in the area for a cheerleading competition. I had my reservations about the hotel just from the pictures of it on the internet...not very appealing....but a large group of people we knew were staying at the hotel and so we decided to give it the benefit of a doubt and it was going to save us a lot of money. Sometimes you "get what you pay for"......

Pros:
room was clean

cons:
1. parking lot very poorly lit and scary after dark.
2. Hotel staff at check in counter are slow and not very friendly
3.Night club on premises very loud. (we were on the 3rd floor above the night club and could hear the music thumping all the way up there. Luckily we sleep with the Tv on and it helped drown out the thumping of the music)
4. Hallways in hotel are dimly lit and creepy. Not to mention the pool is down in the basement and I wouldn't recommend anyone going down to the pool alone. I ran into a drunk couple waiting for the elevator in the basement coming back from the pool. I decided to forgo the elevator and take the stairs instead of standing with them while they made out. Come to find out later the woman was actually a hooker and the guy was her pimp.
5) Continental breakfast served in a dingy bar area and not much variety...but it was free so....I guess that's sort of a pro.

I would definitely never stay at the hotel again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. Especially not families with children.

This hotel was chosen for me by the event coordinator of an event I was attending the evening of my stay. When I reached the hotel after check in I was surprised to find that one of the elevators was broken. Not a problem things happen. I got to my room and discovered that the t.v. was broken. Upon this realization I picked up the phone to inform the front desk when to my surprise the phone was not working either. While leaving for a quick bite to eat I informed front desk of the problems and was told they would be corrected upon my return. When returning not only did I discover that the phone and t.v where not fixed but that the toilet was broken and would not flush as well. When leaving for my event I informed front desk again of my problems and was assured that again they would be corrected upon my return. When I returned several hours later the problems where not corrected and after dialing up the front desk from my cell phone I was told that they didn't know why I was told maintence would be fixing any of my issues because there was no maintence on staff at the time, but I could come down to the front desk and retrieve the key to the neighboring room so that I could use its bathroom facilities. Upon leaving when I expressed my concerns I was told that I could fill out a comment card! This hotel is the worse and the staff are the most unprofessional I have ever ran across. I travel frequently and have NEVER experienced these types of problems anywhere. In the past I have stayed at numerous Best Western Hotels and have never had any problems. After this nightmare I will never stay at another Best Western Again!!!!!

WOW! where do I start. In town for a Cheerleading Competition in Upper Marlboro, MD. Changed my hotel reservation to this Best Western to save money. $69 per night. When I drove up to the door to check in, noticed there is a club inside the hotel as club patrons where lined up outside, of separate entrance. No biggie, I have stayed at hotels where there was a lounge/club, this did not bother me that much. Get inside to check in. Music from the lounge is LOUD! Also patrons can enter/exit club through main lobby of hotel which should not be allowed, if their is a separate entrance outside. There is only one desk clerk who makes it clearly obvious he does NOT want to be at work this evening. He moved at a snails pace. I arrived in line to check in at 10:30, I did not receive a key till 11:00 there was only 1 person ahead of me. Check in took 30 minutes. I know sometimes due to computer issues, etc check-in can take time but all equipment seemed to be running smoothly. while waiting for desk clerk to check me in. He received a complaint from the guest whom he had checked in before me, that the elevator he just sent her to, to get to her room is not working and has a out of order sign on it. Clerk says, "it's been working all day!". Doesn't offer to call someone to take a look at elevator, continues to check me in. (clerk seemed very bothered by the interruption). Finally I received my key to my room. I walk to the elevators there are 2, the elevator to the left has a red sign that states elevator may be out of order due to servicing. I chose to use the alternate elevator to the right. These elevators have to be the smallest I have ever seen. The sign inside says capacity not to exceed 2000lbs. There is no way to fit more than 5 people (without luggage) in this elevator at a time and if you have luggage, I wouldn't risk it more than 3. I get inside my room and everything is in order, bed made, no musty smell, bathroom clean and so forth. Walls are paper thin, I can hear music blaring from the club downstairs from my room. I can also hear the conversations of the guest in the room next me, and they were not loud. Rooms have poor insulation. Next morning I leave to attend cheer event come back to my room in the early evening. room was cleaned, sheets even changed as they are a different color from when I checked in. (good sign, right?). I notice in the right corner of the wall, there is a pink item of clothing on the floor. It looks like a women's bathing suit bottom. Later turns out these were women's underwear. Which did not belong to me. Funny how this item shows up on the 2nd day. Also notice while looking under the bed, empty candy wrappers. It appears housekeeping doesn't thoroughly clean room, items are just placed out of sight for guest to find. I did partake in the continental breakfast. Which consisted of pastries (donuts, Danishes, ,mini-muffins), bagels, toast, grits, scrambled eggs, cold cereal, coffee, tea, & Juice. there is no ATM available in the hotel. I would not stay here again.

Read reviews before our group decided to stay here because of the cheaper price. We thought the reviews were from "drama bouge' arrogant types" and we thought it couldn't be that bad...boy were we wrong! One group member found a man's XL t-shirt in her bed, another found a pair of ladies panties in her bed, and another overheard a "lady" negotiating/arguing price with a "gentleman"..."$25 Oh no, you said $50?" I use the terms lady and gentlemen as a courtesy! The "lady" eventually stumbled over to a member of our group, who was sitting patiently in the lobby, and cursed her out because she would not allow a stranger to use her cell phone! I kid you not...you can't make this stuff up! Parking lot security is desperately needed for the people peering into vehicles. Two elevators-one renovated and safe the other old and ready to blow up. Dim light in hallways. Slow wi-fi. Continental breakfast-don't bother. The good things are the McDonalds and Red Lobster across the street! Pay the extra money and stay elsewhere.
