Stayed here for a week. Reminded me of an average Courtyard hotel.

Pros
- Excellent soundproofing in room
- Comfy bed
- Sturdy desk with outlets at base of lamp
- Ample free parking
- Excellent Air Conditioning (not a "wall unit")
- Friendly knowledgeable staff

Cons
- Blackout curtains only cover outer 20% of window (bright light outside)
- Workout equipment is a hodgepodge of 1990's home-quality stuff.
- Icemakers on 2nd & 3rd floor didn't work (at least two days)
- shower had low popcorn ceiling (maybe 7')
- 30' swimming pool good for pre-teens. Not for swimming.
- no power outlets at bedside.

Had two-day stay at this hotel north of Baltimore.

Overall:

Lobby is small and dark. Musty smell...
Single elevator located near back of hotel - limited access if you have more than two bags and two people.
Rooms are spacious, but are in dire need of renovation. Cigarette smell in non-smoking rooms...moved twice, similar results.

Personal Experience:

Hotel staff inattentive and lack professional skills usually seen in Marriott chain. Arrived late on date of arrival. Decided to take my overnight bag (which had my computer) to meeting next morning (thus, no bag inside room). These 'people' checked me out of hotel stating that this was hotel policy to do so when they have 'no evidence of your return'. Never heard of this, in all my years of business travel! Told by front desk personel that I had to check back in, after proving the duration of my stay via e-mail confermation. Absolutely horrible!

This hotel has done a wonderful job renovating the lobby and the restaraunt. However, they need to work on the rooms.... very outdated. The bed was very comfy just like all Marriott's. And the room was clean. I would stay again just because of the location.

The beds are comfortable and the hotel is in a great location - across the street from restaurants, grocery, shops, WalMart, etc. However, you can hear street noise from your room if it's located on street side, the bathroom wasn't clean (hair in the tub, water marks around the sink, spots in tub) and the sheets had black stains on them. Upon arrival, I tried calling for room service, but no one answered. So I tried calling the front desk, still no answer. I stayed on Xmas weekend, but the hotel parking lot was practically empty so there was no excuse for bad service. Every time I visited the front desk, I was the only patron. My experience with service was an attitude upon check-out when asked for a copy of the bill and no service available when calling the restaurant or front desk. I found a great deal for $65/night on Priceline. Don't bother with this hotel if you can't get a good deal.

  • Liked — The bed was comfortable and the hotel's location.
  • Disliked — Bad service and cleanliness.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Try to request a clean room not located street side.

This Marriot is my favorite "go to" when I get into Baltimore. It is about 1/2 hr from down town but for the price it covers the job well.

First and foremost every visit for me has been CLEAN. The decor is a tad bit above average not quite above average but not average either. Don't pay more than $130/night. Not worth the $159 they charge sometimes.

The rooms are spacious and so are the bathrooms. Bathroom is not as spacious or has all the amenities I like but okay. I usually like the view of the back parking lot because they have disguised it with lots of beautiful (whsipery type) trees. I believe there is a garden view which is beautiful. Never ate at the restaurant but had drinks it was okay. The morning cafe was okay, very busy can be a wait but okay food.

The GYM is very simple not as great but OH MY GOSH the SAUNA is heaven. I usually go to dry sauna's in the US and they all seem to be afraid to crank it up to the 190 degrees it should be to be effective. Egypt and Japan were the other countries that I found good dry saunas.

last summer they where suppose to be doing some renovations. I don't know if that included the GYM, it should.

They annoyed me last visit because they overbooked and when I arrived at 3am they had no place for me after I booked months in advance.

However, after venting my frustration in no uncertain terms and insisted on my particular expectations of hotels when I travel they did put us up in the downtown Marriot (see my review on that) which was okay for the discount we got.

I hope this never happens again because regardless of what others have said on this site this hotel is really reasonable and CLEAN and the hallways are beautifully adorn with fresh flowers and the carpet is clean and retains it's bright beautiful color and odorless. There is also a large shopping mall and restaurants across the street.

  • Liked — Clean and decent price/okay for events and business
  • Disliked — over booked
  • Tips/Secrets: — Don't pay more than 130/night
