This was one of the best hotels and certainly one of the best values I have ever had. At check in, our bellhop walked through the entire room checking that everything was in good working order, and showing us the fire escapes.

The room was huge and the beds were nice. The front desk was excellent.

They have both indoor and outdoor pools that are connected, and one thing I like is that this hotel has lifeguards. Would stay here again anytime!!!!!

We stayed one night and traveled away from Baltimore. I would not stay here if I was doing anything in Baltimore, but for our purposes, it was fine. Good hotel that was clean. We booked through Priceline and got a great rate. We were stuck in a room next to a very loud elevator, but once in the room, it was completely quiet! It was off the main hallway, so no noise from anyone and the room was padded enough to keep out the loud elevator. I was disappointed that there was no breakfast unless you wanted to pay $15 per person even the kids! I would stay here again, though. The front desk people were very kind and helped us find our way to our rural destination.

Would never stay here again. Far away from downtonw area. The front staff was nice but a little dumb. They were so confused when we checked in! The pool was a pit ,with beer bottles and cases all over the place. Young girls were lifeguards that were apathetic at best. When we told the front desk about the situation they were nice enough and apologized BUT never cleaned it and the next day the mess was just moved to a corner in boxes.

We stayed here three (3) nights last weekend. They were full as this was Preakness weekend, although that had nothing to do with our stay. My first worry was highway noise as the Hotel abuts an Interstae intersection. No problem though. Occasionally heard Preakness people walking by in the hallway, but not too bad. The Hotel is very nice as are the rooms . It is spread out like a motel with various courts. A lot of walking to the rooms etc. One problem that was inexcusiable is that my 87 year old mother who walks with the occassional use of a cane was given a very nice Handicap room that you had to go the full distance of the Preakness to get there. I would think in Hotel 101 you learn that handicapped rooms should be located closer to the elevator, lobbies and other amenities. We ate our meals out, but food in the restauant and small canteen was very expensive. There is a large mall accross the road, but set back away. You definately need access to a car if you are staying here.

Brown Water

May 10, 2009 | Trip type: Business

I stayed in the Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley Inn recently for a conference. We arrived after 10:00 at night; the room was a great distance from the front desk (read...about a five minute walk), and the key did not work so I had to unfortunately return to the front desk. Upon finally arriving back at the room, it appeared that there was urine in the toilet. Thinking this was a very poor cleaning job, I flushed it and noted that there was a residue in the bowl as though it had built up over the years. I had no bottled water with me, so during the night, I drank two glasses of tap water. When my alarm went off, I hopped in the shower, closed my eyes, turned the water on, and shampooed my hair. Well, after applying conditioner, I opened my eyes only to find that the water coming from the shower was brown. It had been running for probably about five minutes. I hopped out, called the front desk and was told that, no, they had never heard of brown water and would send an engineer up. I threw some clothes on, he arrived, and said, "yes...we close this wing when we're not full, and these rooms haven't been used in weeks. The water sits in the pipes and is brown, but you just have to let it run for awhile". Did I mention that I am 2 months pregnant and drank this during the night? Two of my colleagues were on this wing, and both had brown water that they noticed while in the shower, as well. Subjecting guest to this is so far beyond unacceptable, it is really just incomprehensible. I can only hope that what I drank did not harm the baby.
