I stayed in the Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley Inn recently for a conference. We arrived after 10:00 at night; the room was a great distance from the front desk (read...about a five minute walk), and the key did not work so I had to unfortunately return to the front desk. Upon finally arriving back at the room, it appeared that there was urine in the toilet. Thinking this was a very poor cleaning job, I flushed it and noted that there was a residue in the bowl as though it had built up over the years. I had no bottled water with me, so during the night, I drank two glasses of tap water. When my alarm went off, I hopped in the shower, closed my eyes, turned the water on, and shampooed my hair. Well, after applying conditioner, I opened my eyes only to find that the water coming from the shower was brown. It had been running for probably about five minutes. I hopped out, called the front desk and was told that, no, they had never heard of brown water and would send an engineer up. I threw some clothes on, he arrived, and said, "yes...we close this wing when we're not full, and these rooms haven't been used in weeks. The water sits in the pipes and is brown, but you just have to let it run for awhile". Did I mention that I am 2 months pregnant and drank this during the night? Two of my colleagues were on this wing, and both had brown water that they noticed while in the shower, as well. Subjecting guest to this is so far beyond unacceptable, it is really just incomprehensible. I can only hope that what I drank did not harm the baby.
