We checked in during Hurricane Sandy, and could not have been happier with our stay. I love Residence Inn, and when I'm traveling with my three kids I always try and book one. I'm not sure how old this one is, but it all looked and felt brand new. We were freaked out by the impending storm, and they let us check in at 9am (!) as it was just getting started. As the storm wore on, and the hotel filled up with weary folks, they kept everyone cheerful. They provided a pretty wonderful breakfast and dinner to a lot of people who were trapped there and had no options. Full breakfast, make your own waffles, several cereals and yogurts and fruit, bread, bagels and muffins, oatmeal, and then several hot options (eggs, potatoes, etc). I didn't even know that they served dinner, but they had meatball subs, salad, beer wine and soda.
The rooms looked like they do in other new residence inns. We had a two bedroom suite, with two bathrooms and a kitchen. It's a very well thought out space that works for everyone. Enough outlets, places to sit, kitchen equipment, etc. They even had a book shelf in the lobby with (really good) children's books and novels.
We had made the reservation for three nights, but they let us check out this morning with no penalty after only one night. All of the staff, from the front desk crew, to the kitchen staff, to the maintenance person and manager were all helpful and cheerful throughout a pretty crazy and stressful time. They set the tone, and the guests seemed to follow. I will continue to always try and book residence inns when I travel. Thank you for a great stay, and such great service!
